Daniel Jackson will explode in 2008!

Classic Jacko moment (when I jumped on the bandwagon) - against the pies (i think) there were 3 of the scum hovering around a ball in dispute about to take possession. A few tigers nearby were holding back, waiting to see what happened (I assume) when from seemingly a million miles away, a read headed blur charged through the Pies, scattering them like bowling pins, and ripping the ball from a scum's feeble grip and (ignoring the hovering receivers behind him) banged it very long. He won possession through sheer desire for the ball. None of this pussy-footing around, or worrying about looking foolish committing to a contest that he probably wouldn't win. Sheer desire, strength and running in a straight line (I wish a few of his more highly regarded team mates played with the same attitude)
Just had to read it again TT your prose is exquisite

After reading Tyger's post, I'm jumping on the Jacko bandwagon too!

Thanks Willo for drawing this masterpiece to our attention.

Long time member, first time poster!!

I think the club needs about 6-7 more blokes with the mongrel and aggression that Jackson plays with. Some of that aggression is natural but some can be learnt and developed with age.
If you line up our backline (Bowden, McGuane, Thursfield, Newman, Raines) (King excluded) they are too nice, there is no fear cast into the opposition forwards, no intimidation and no players that opposition players and fans hate but we love because they have the abilty to get under the oppositions skin, not to mention needing someone to smash some packs and put some guys on their asses and if there is a fair hard hit there.....give it!!!

My favourite Jacko moment was when he grabbed the ball, held it in his right hand while running towards inside 50, and 'instructed' with his left hand for a teammate to 'position yourself here while I carry the ball'. In other words, to shepherd an opposition player. This led to being a goal but I can't remember which game it was, and it clearly shows a bit of leadership.

Welcome aboard. How's the California Penal League going? Juuust a bit outside. Ball 4, Ball 8, ball 12.

After reading the thread about Cogs and then this one makes me think positive things about having stronger inside midfielders at last. This is why I would prefer Masten over the others. Would then have midfielders of calibre of:

Inside mids - Coughlan, Tuck, Foley, Masten
Taggers - Jackson, Johnson, Polo, Connors
Outside mids - Deledio, Tambling, Brown, Newman, Edwards

Hmm must to bed for pleasant hopeful dreams.

A good ordinary player

Yeah, you're right mb. In the grand scheme of the AFL, Jacko would do well to be considered a good ordinary player.

It's when he plays in our team that he's a stand out and is developing quite a cult following.

dont forget cousins

I think this year Jacko showed what he could do and played more consistently. I think he got a lot of cofindence from the games he played this year. he will burst onto the scene again in 2008 and will get more games. Go Jacko!

Well, if Daniel Jackson does explode in 2008, then I'm looking forward to it.

Personally, its always been a fantasy of mine to be covered in Fanta.
