From what I am hearing the draft doesn't go that deep & don't think Kerr is that old would still have a good 6 or more years in him would complement Foley Deledio Cotchin very well if we just had to give up the 1st pick & not a player then I would look at it.
Sorry but how many top inside midfielders play into their 30s? Voss retired at 30, Riciutto extended his career til he was 31 by playing up forward but was out of the midfield by the time he was 30. Kane Johnson looks like he'll be finished by 30 too and he's not that much of an inside mid. Just have a look at what playing at the bottom of packs did to the young bodies of Luke Ball and Mark Coughlan. Kerr is already showing wear and tear, we would get 3-4 years out of him AT THE MOST!!!

The fact the draft doesn't go that deep just highlights why we can't trade for a player like Kerr. If we give away our early draft position then our entire draft from 2008 is put in the basket of getting Daniel Kerr because the 3 players we take from the draft will be from the dregs left in the 3rd-5th round.

Daniel Kerr was PICK 18 and it will cost us our 1st & 2nd round picks to get him at least as he is contracted for next year. We should easily be able to get a better outcome with Pick 8 & 25ish than Daniel Kerr in the twilight of his career. You can still get quality players with picks in the late first/early 2nd round. Just like Cotchin, Rance, McMahon & Morton was a better result for us in 2007 than Judd & McMahon would have been. I can't believe anyone would think that getting Kerr would be a good idea.

Not sure about the depth of the draft. Last years draft was criticised for the same reason yet now its top 10 is being rated as perhaps the best top 10 ever. From my viewing of the U18 championships the depth should last to pick 50 or so.
