Danny Meyer [Merged]

Re: Danny Meyer

Played his best game against the cats playing off the hbf where his run, ability to read the play and hit targets by foot made him one of the standouts in a great victory. His best position in time will be on-ball but for now I would like to see him revert to his half back role ...at least this way he is not at the mercy of the disgraceful disposal into the forward line .

Yes, good call...but we did play a few numbers behind the ball that day, which assisted Danny getting plenty of the footy.
Still unsure about how far Meyer's ability stretches. Will he be capable of winning a hard ball?

Meyer's season over

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, but I read somewhere this morning that Danny was a late withdrawal on Saturday after being diagnosed with stress fractures of the feet. He'll miss the rest of the season.

So that's three young guns whose seasons ended this week: Meyer, JON (broken collarbone) and McGuane (knee).

Re: Meyer's season over

Dissapointing way to finish the season.

The long list of injuries, particularly to those younger players is all part of the pain in the long journey - Trust me guys, it gets better.

The journey you are specifically referring will end. There are some things that need to happen and I'm not just talking about getting rid of the players that are commonly referred to as "duds".

Not a great year but I reckon he has the x factor. Should start next year as a regular and be told he owns a hff for at least 6 games. A better player in the firsts than at Coburg.

i think we entered a fork in the road two seasons ago and now were headin in a different direction to the road we were on for the previous 22 or so years.

off the top of my head...

1. High turnover of the list which will continue at years end.
2. Lots of skilled juniors coming through the ranks.
3. A clear and defined gameplan and supportive drafting policy to match.
4. An improving financial outlook.
5. A Football Manager and Coach who won't cave in when the going gets rough.
6. which means most importantly, stability around the club.

so you see IMHO were on a different journey/road now and like yourself (a long term richmond supporter) i am sick to death of the past 25 odd years of failure but i can honestly say (whether people agree with it or not) that at least we have a clear and defined pathway and were prepared to live or die by the sword because of it.
