David King out of the Race for coach in 2010?

I would of only had him as a caretaker at most - never a permanent senior coach. None of the current coaching panel should get the senior gig at the RFC come 2010.

Agree, none of the current coaching staff bar Rawlings should be around the club come 2010.

If I had to pick between Rawlings and Campbell I'd take Campbell.

I'd like to agree withya again, but I dont know enough about Rawlings the coach. I read reports about people not rating his coaching at Coburg, but clearly the powers seem to think it's alright. Campbell will make a very good coach one day!

Like others have said, thought Kingy did a more than reasonable job with the backline - it wasn't his game plan remember >:( When allowed to play one on one, they did OK, for the talents that lay within :clap

Kingy would know he is not in the frame for 2010, so good on him for saying as much - at least he is fooling no one - credit were credit is due.

Bring back Andy Collins say I ;)

agree. King, Raines, McMahon are fine examples of his skills.

Exactly.

To add some more...

- He has had the most consistency in being able to control the same zone for the longest tenure amongst the assistants.
- Our solid "Back Trio" have stagnated
- He still has not been able to find a answer or account for small forwards kicking bags on us and we are now starting to struggle with power forwards and duos as they become more common in the game (Llyod&Davey, Hill & Higgins, Brown & Bradshaw, Franklin &Roughhead etc. Tredrea kicked 7 in the wet on us, ridiculous.
- We are 16th in that we allow the most goals kicked by opposition (hell even Melbourne the bottom side are 14th for this and Freo 15th)
- He rated McGuane as our best stopper before the season started

It's unfair to hang all of this on King's head, players and other coaching staff have also their fair share of blame but King has hardly been inspiring in his role in my eyes.

I thought he did quite well with our backline actually. A number of players have developed well under his eye.

Are you for *smile* real.......david king quote " If you cant kick..you should not be playing afl and wont be playing in my backline" unQuote.
Please remind me which component of our team turns over the ball from direct clangers to goals???

David King go have a sook OUTTTTTTTTTTT of the front door you came in from....ta ta Brian Royal as well....shall i remind you "Im too scared to coach cotchin.....because look at the wondeful job i did with deledio & Tambling.

This year, but before that they improved more than most believed possible. This year I reckon the effect of selection decisions has been huge.

Fair call, I agree with you in part, as I said it would be unfair to lump everything on him. I have bemoaned our selection inconsistencies for some time now.

Personally I think our whole coaching structure/communication is up you know what creek. So it's tough to single people out when the whoe foundation is on quicksand.

After his long service now as a assistant he cannot be absolved as much as he is though for mine, our defense is really looking quite flimsy when you look at the overall tenure from where we came from before he took over and what we have now. Not just in personnel but also style/tactics. Not much has changed consistently for the good.

What about my other points? What percentage of accountability do you think King has? (obviously it's a wild shot, just interested in your views of how accountable he is for his position description).

I'd blame Wallace more than King BUT I do agree he has to share some of the blame and you're right about the failure to develop an effective small backman, thats probably the biggest black mark on his record.

No inference that he has spat the dummy - just that he won't be applying. Could be for numerous reasons.

I agree. Talk about jumping the gun here guys. I can see why people could think King spat the dummy, but there could be a lot of other reasons why he has told the club he isn't considering applying for the senior role next year.
