Sad news The head of the cheer Squad David has past away.
Sad news. RIP.
When I was 15 late 80's, the cheer squad had a game against Carlton at Princess Park ground 2.
There weren't enough players for Carlton, so David said i should go and play for Carlton. After 3 goals in the 1st half, I was back in Yellow and black after half time.
Top bloke... was always at Richmond games even when we rock bottom.
Condolences to his family.

Sad to hear. Met him long time ago just after the SOS campaign. Hadn't heard or seen him for a long time during our recent dynasty.

Our reserved seats were in the 1st level behind the goals looking down on the Cheer Squad before the Olympic Stand was redeveloped. We'd be getting absolutely flogged week after week after week but Dave would be there, up on a seat, trying his heart out to get the Cheer Squad going, hoping that the team would get some kind of inspiration that never came. RIP Dave. You were certainly a passionate Tiger man.

Yes I remember him.
RIP.
Passionate Tiger if there ever was one.
Had a Tiger Tattoo on his chest.
He could proudly say (as many of us):
I was there when we were *smile*.
A sad day.

I remember early 90's
6000-8000 crowds but the cheer squad was always full and he held the group together.
I always wished he would 1 day see the club succeed.
He was once on channel 7.
He hadn't missed a Richmond game in 20yrs.
He said he would book his holidays the minute the future was released.

Me too. The red seats closer to the MCC to the right of the race. The southern stand roof off eventually and it’s eventual demolition. Justin Turner doing warm up laps while he was on the bench and checking out my hot gf at the time. Would have been a handful of people in the red seats at the time

Would’ve been 90 or 91

Geez he loved the Tiges. Would see him regularly at games and the London after. Never quit during the hard times.

Truly dedicated.

RIP.

If I read the article right, then Dave become a Richmond member in 1974... So he would have earned life membership last year. I hope he received it before he passed.

If not, then the club needs to do the right thing and award it posthumously... as he deserves to have his name on that honour board
