Dean Limbach Gone. Humm Safe?

A mad Essendon supporter, work mate who spend most of his spare time on the BomberBlitz forum, said that Essendon have invited Dean to train with them...I will fair dinkum  :vomit if he is taken and then shows the type of form he had in the VFL but playing for the Essendumb.
the trouble is he hasnt shown much at all. one of the problems of our club is we hang onto players to long. hopefully this is changing slowly. sometimes hard decisions have to be made we have made a few this post season still no where enougth though.
if dean bites us on the bum so be it. one option we did have was delisting one of the long term underachievers ie tivendale krakouer hyde etc and giving limbach another yr. if we did nothing lost imo.

I would have thought another year for Dean, there are a few young guys on the list that have been around a couple of years longer than the dog and haven't grabbed a senior spot that might have been delisted.
Ahhh well, doesn't matter I will just keep backing the ones we still have.

The club feels he is not up to it.  End of story.  If he goes on to play elsewhere so be it.  It is a rare event when a player is delisted by the Tigers and goes on to dominate at another club anyway.

Too true jb, too true. In thew HUN in the sport "gossip" pages with Steve Perkin he's been putting up sides of players who have left their team for another one. It started with showing how many good players Collingwood, St Kilda had let go and by the time they got to the Tigers it was somewhat embarrassing.

the trouble is hes 21 next yr compared to say mcguane who will be just 20.at least mcguane did enough to get a senior game.

thats because we have been the worst users of the national draft since its inception. we are getting better but geez we have a long way to go to get on a par with most other clubs in this area.

All expected, with the maybe the exception of Limbach, but from the few times I saw him in the flesh he didn't seem much chop... so he got the chop!

Limbach wont bite us, in fact will be every lucky if not extremely lucky to get a run at any other AFL club.

He may be training with Dons but doesnt mean they will draft him, and even if they do good luck to the boy but i dont think he will bite us.

Cant see any other club that would be interested in Limbach. At a guess id say we will rookie him with our last rookie selection unless we have someone in mind who still is available with that pick then its bye bye Dean.

Possible if rumors are true, but many have trained with other clubs as well as there own previous clubs post delisting and dont get re drafted.

Dont get too carried away with Dean as there may well be another Matty White that may be rated higher than Dean and the tigers would not take Dean back over a better or more promising option that can provide more impact and depth if available and there is definately a chance of that situation happening due to the depth of the draft this year. Some very good kids may miss the main draft and like Matty White will be plucked out to fill spots.

Wait and see what happens.

Personally i cant see what all the fuss about Limbach being axed is anyway. Sure id rather see half a dozen others axed ahead of him, but we cant hang onto everyone, and Dean was a prime candidate, nil senior games and out of contract after 2 years, they are the players that get the axe unless they have a very big upside to occupying valuable list space.

Don't say anything bad against Dean he is the greatest Richmond player of all time. :rofl :rofl :rofl

Not being nasty against Dean Maddie, but lets be honest being Dean being axed was not the tradgedy some are getting on about, geez. Personally i would axe Tivendale, Hyde, Moore, Hall or Krakouer before Dean and give him one more year but simple fact is Dean hasnt had a senior appearance in his 2 years and was a speculative pick, his contract is up and someones gotta go. Hall, Hyde, Tivendale ect are contracted therefore Deano or Moore or McGuane all were candidates for the last axing spot sadly for Dean it was him who was viewed as less likely to impact on the list aginst the likes of McGuane. So Dean had to go, sad fact of AFL footy.

Craig, you seem to be arguing against your own logic. The reason Hyde, Krak and Hall are still here is because no one offered sufficient enough for Richmond to consider a trade and whilst I agree with you that these names are the first of the so called recognised players that should go, I would also argue that they will add depth to our list in the short term (even with their obvious shortcomings) Whilst ordinary at times at least we know what we are getting with them wheras Limbach (as you alluded to) was a speculative pick that hasn't worked short term and probably would have only been minorly successful later.

If Hyde and Krak in particular had have been delisted without getting anything for them (again even with their difficiencies), I for one would have been p1ssed!)

Besides Limbach may still have a chance if they retain him as a rookie.

If you join the Rookie Club you can support Dean directly in 2007.

no opinion either way on these 2, but i don't think i would have lost any sleep if they went elsewhere for nothing

Funny thing - the players page has been updated with the retirements and delistings, but Jeremy Humm is still on the page today. I wonder if it's an oversight, or if it's to keep the numbers at 35 on the senior list for the moment.

Checked the list today and Jeremy is gone, leaving the 34 senior list players. As his President this year, I'd like to wish Jeremy all the best for his future.

If we draft 6 there will be 38 on the senior list, two vets, Richo and Gaspar, two second year rookies, Graham and Howatt so that only leaves two further rookie places so it would be unlikely that Limbach would get a spot as we need some fresh blood at rookie level.

My view is that Howatt would need to be elevated onto the senior list at psd time, if Limbach is to be rookied. Otherwise the numbers dont work for him.

Good onya Jools.

Jeremy's opportunity with the Tigers didn't work out which is sad because he is a great young bloke and he worked his butt off to try to make it.

Unfortunately it is the meat market of footy.

I hope we all wish him the best with his future.

I thought he was very unlucky to only get one opportunity in the seniors during the season to prove his worth. Against the Eagles at home no less :-\. Is there a tougher ask in footy?
Seems like a total waste of a selection to me if you are not at least prepared to give a player a couple of opportunities to see if they have what it takes.
Still the coaching staff are obviously a lot closer to it than we are.
Good luck to him.

He was a wasted selection , and i very well remember being assasinated for crying out against wasting our rookie pick on him.............................. oh well 8)
