Delisted players

I spoke to Michael Roach, at a Xmas function yesterday.
Tom is still deciding on some options.

Head west to the SANFL or the WAFL is the best advice. ;)

Good luck to em. ;)

Unfortunately going west seems to be the preferred option. I'd like to know what the VF/AFL intend to do to stop the exodus and keep more players in Victoria. I know it's monetary but you'd think playing in the state with 10 teams would be more beneficial (in terms of getting re-drafted) than playing in the state with 2 teams.

I think the competition is probably better in SANFL because of the mature bodies. Over here, we get a lot of young guys on afl lists learning the trade and who aren't physically as strong, so it's not as big a test for them.

I think that money only has a little but to do with it. The fact is that the SANFL is widely known as the best competition outside of the AFL so players go there to do well in the second best league with a hope of being redrafted, like our own Shane Tuck was.

It's very hard to define which state league is the best. Is it the team who wins the state v state game (which by the way didn't occur this season)? Or is it just from the opinon of the players who have played in both comps? If it is the latter then most players say that the VFL is comparable to the SANFL.

Trouble with the VFL for delisted players is the amount of spare AFL players filling positions in the sides. It doesn't leave a lot of room for the rejects plus going by the Jason Cloke article in todays Hun some coaches interfere with the playing side.
If they go interstate the AFL players are spread over more clubs so there is a much better chance of re establishing a career.

Saw Dean Limbach at Crown on Friday night, he told me that he has signed with Williamstown..

Yep.
Greg told me that the other night.

Seems they're awash with money down at Willy.

Good luck to Limbach if he can get good money.
