Despite AFL teams best efforts over the past seven years no team has been able to secure 6 wins in a season.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with getting a priority pick in the draft with less than 5.5 wins. Since 2000 the following number of wins have been made by teams during the home & away season.

4 Wins 6 times
5 Wins 6 times
6 Wins ZERO
7 Wins 7 times
8 Wins 6 times

I'm not a statistician but I can see an anomoly.

Of course with the priority rules changing to require less than 4.5 wins the new magic disappearing number...will be 5 wins.

I saw that too. You should contact him and expose him for plagiarism. Pretty weak effort from the journo's these days. They seem to copy a lot from the supporter sites. Lazy sods.

Of course theres tanking. What do they think the Bluescum were doing taking off the best players when the game was there to be won against the Pies. As long as the priority pick stays teams will tank for 2 years or more to get extra picks.

Could've at least made an effort to disguise the fact that it wasn't his idea, though his 68/32 draft system has some merit.

Im not happy Carlton will most probably get our 1st pick, but im not worried cause we will still get a good player at pick 2 and Carlton probably deserve a priority pick, they have been down the bottom longer than us so i dont really care who gets first pick, it is probably good Carlton pick before us to take the pressure off us on who we pick.

They would need to as they have placed the criteria for 2 years to qualify, but after that they have to look at scraping it & also have a lottery system in place based on some sliding odds in a club's chance to get the first pick.
