Demetriou's Comments re: Wallace

Interesting he is pepared to have a crack at Terry but does not even have an opinion on *smile* Pratts criminal behaviour...Zero credibility for this bloke.
Tricky Dicky is way to far out of Dimi's league for him to even consider shaping up much less having a crack at.
One thing about Dimi's type is you can gaurantee they know how to find the smoothest way around the obstacle course and look impressive doing it.
Wave the big stick vaguely in the general direction of the heavyweights at West Coast and Cartoon while bypassing them at maximum range.
Sink the slipper in unsighted to people like Roos, snipe at a coach who's position is under scrutiny or beat up on a club that is struggling like the Kangas.
Hmmm! Just realised I could have written exactly the same comment about Choc Mundine.

Seems the fonz is very thin skinned when it comes to taking criticism.

Still trying to think of 1 great achievement that the fonz has done for the game :-X

Thanks Yinnar.
Caro nicely poses all the questions everyone with half a brain has regarding the AFL's position on all this tanking crap.

Aside from Dementriod resigning, is there any way of him getting the boot?

I would love to see a grassroots supporter action to get him out.

Perhaps at every game, during half time, all supporters start chanting 'Vlad must go' or words to that effect.

I suppose if Eddy gets his ugly little mate Joffre to start it, it will succeed.

Choc mundine, the guy who was too scared to fight Danny Green and Sam Soliman because they would knock him out.

That is what was being said two years ago.

Yeah, but what's the guarantee that if Fonzie does go we won't get someone even worse?

Hargh! Green was fighting Choc under his correct weight range and near stuffed himself earlier in Perth trying to stay down in the weights.
Soli is some weird sort of fighter and popped a knee when Choc clobbered him early.
Problem with Choc is that he fought flogs when he started his career and now that he is a reasonable boxer he still does nothing but take on flogs or guys he knows he has already bypassed, while constantly rabbiting on about how magnificent he is.
The only time he's got in against genuine quality he's lost and even now we don't hear him making a genuine challenge to any of the best in his weight range.
He should be dragging his proverbials through broken glass to get a crack at them on their financial terms not his if he was fair dinkum about challenging them, instead of just rehashing Green and Soli on pay t.v. for another fat pay cheque.

I'm no huge fan of his mouth, in fact I cant stand listening to him,but that is his method of self promotion, he wants to be the bad guy,

But I think people are quick to put him down, without knowing the facts,

He does have to fight both Green and Soliman again, contract signed before both fights, winner has to give loser chance of re match if they want it,

They too, both want the chance to use Mundines name, to earn a big payday again , something they could'nt do off their own names, harsh, but true.

I just find it a little strange how they too, did their share of mouthing, bagging Mundine, and talked the talk how he was scared of them, for quite some time, then both got their butts kicked, and went for the excuses afterwards.

Yet no none wants to talk about that, except find other ways to bag Choc.

Who do you suggest he fight, the great Joe Calzaghe is'nt interested, only a couple of fights left in him and wants a big name American fighter like a Hopkins, kessler has lost his title , and is inactive right now, they are the only 2 fighters ranked above him in world rankings

It looks like Mundine has to bide his time and wait for Calzaghe to retire, he is 42 now,

And a Mundine Kessler fight could happen then, with all titles on the line.

But he is better than a reasonable fighter , although noone likes to admit it, he is pretty damm good these days, not too many footballers going around I would think, with no amateur background in boxing , that could get to that standard so quickly.

thats typical richmond mentality. you dont does that mean you hang onto abject morons like demetiou.
we are supposed to be the peoples game but whenhas the people ever been asked anything of importance. i wonder if a vote was taken to all club supporters if 2 new teams would have been voted in. i would at a guess have said no. i reckon if it was down to supporters old vlad would be given the flick. i have never heard anyone say a kind word about this bloke.

The best answer to what Dimmy's said is by Terry Wallace himself.
Actions speak louder than words

Or if Wallace gets questioned about what was said of him he replies;

"Sorry what did Fonzie say?"
" The Fonz I remember could never admit he was wr.. wr... wr... o .. ng"

Some of you blokes need to get with reality, regardless of what you think of Demetriou personally, the game has never been in better shape - expansion is the only way to go and for those who long for the old VFL - go and watch the current VFL - the new national competition that has kept most clubs alive has obviously passed you by. In this day and age any game needs to grow or it will die, if that means some of the poorly run and supported clubs fold at the expense of new clubs in developing areas then so be it. The game is bigger than any team and history or past success mean nothing in the scheme of things. There is no reason that the RFC should not survive and prosper in the modern game, what he said is hardly a secret, another year like last year and I for one will be very surprised if Wallace lasts the first 10 rounds.
:clap
Great post, if Wallace is thinking bottom 4 again, he will be back on Fox Sports every Wednesday day night in no time.

From today's HS:

Demetriou also revealed Richmond coach Terry Wallace had phoned him on Saturday seeking a clarification of comments Demetriou made on Friday about Wallace and his future at Punt Rd.

"I want to set the record right," Demetriou said.

"I said I don't believe that Terry Wallace wants to be in a situation where he loses a game and he could possibly be sacked all for the sake of getting a priority draft pick.

"I don't think that's what Terry wants, it's not what we want, it's not what anyone wants.

"So in the context of the answer, which was about tanking, I still maintain the prize of getting a priority draft pick is not worth people sacrificing their careers, jobs and reputations."

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,23386357-19742,00.html

What a crock. He makes a tanking coach sound like a martyr on a one-man suicide mission for the good of the club, without the blessing of the powers-that-be. Limp attempt to wriggle away from some poorly-chosen words.

l have no time for this bloke. Andrew has done nothing for the average fan. He what's to expand this competition, yet he will fixture a Carlton vs Richmond opener for the season.
Hey Mr Andrew, schedule 2 interstate teams for an opening round next time and see if you can draw a crowd like this Thursday night at the MCG.

Go Tiges..
