Unless we as members do something to resurrect this mess, we'll have no club for our kids to follow. The damage that has been done over the past 27 years to this most magnificent brand has been unbelievable. I've said this before, but the RFC has: -
- best jumper
- best theme song.
- best emblem
- great history of team success (10 flags) and great players.
It also has that magical quality that continues to drag us all to it. Richmond pre 1982 was about as big and as good as it gets from a football perspective. So how do we fix it?
We have a footbal business plan that we all committ to and stick with. We develop a recruiting strategy, appoint the right people and networks and then set about compiling a list like we've never had before.
We appoint a head coach and a team of assistants that will develop players to achieve 100% of their potential as quickly as possible.
We develop a game plan that is attractive to watch, has the key ingredients that we want the RFC to stand for and is achievable for the playing list that we have at any point in time.
We constantly engage the sponsors and members, keeping them fully briefed on where we're at. I've no doubt that with a plan, the right people appointed in the key positions and a resolute adherance to the direction that is taken, we'll ultimately rebuild a successful club. First of all this needs a strong leader. Is March the man? The next few months are critical, leading up to the appointment of the new coach and support coaches/staff.
I've had enough of the crap that is all too often repeating itself season after season. Our club is a laughing stock and people are turning away from it in droves. I want something that my kids will be proud to follow well into the future. I want the Board to now now take control and run the club rather than just let it meander along.
