PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I know in the past, we've had a few folks who have been interested in trading for established players who can make an immediate impact to help our team winning. I don't mean the players like hudson, but soloman and Welsh from Essendon etc.

Well, after the past few weeks, seeing our young kids starting to make their mark at the AFL level, I'd like it if we don't go anywhere near established players. I was quite happy to get Browny, and hopefully when he gets back to full fitness, we'll have a very potent forward line.

I know Miller said at the PRE draft night that we needed to get at least 2 young big guys in the 2 drafts (2005, 2006), and if we don't get 2, we'd trade for one.

Well Greg, unless you can land us J Brown without selling the farm, don't trade for a player. Trade for a pick, and make our own. There's a certain degree of satisfaction watching "kids" like Raines, Pettifer, Newman, Tambling et al deliver some great games. Let's keep that theme going, and develop our own, and leave the trading for established players to clubs like Fremantle and North Melbourne. We've got the seniors to give them some leadership and strong bodies, so stockpile the kids please.
