Interested by Damian Barrett's articles vehemently criticizing RFC's handling of the BC issue.

I wonder if the whole Polak thing was a ploy to get the fans behind the idea of recruiting BC, whatever the price?

After Richmond's "application" to the AFL, quite a few fans changed their take on the idea. How many PRE posters wrote something like "I was originally against the idea, but ..."?

So the RFC made their application, getting the fans interested in recruiting BC. By the time the AFL called our bluff, the groundswell of support was so high that I reckon the RFC would have been vilified if they DIDN'T take him with whatever picks they had.

If that's the case I take my hat off to the RFC and doesn't the whole thing smell of Sheedy? I'm still not sure getting BC was worth it but at least it's nice to see a bit of grunt in the old Tiger again.

Swap out Cousins for Ian Stewart and the Richmond fan base for St. Kilda and the whole thing reeks of the Barrot-Stewart "sting" !!!

If you're influenced by Damian Barret's vitriolic anti-RFC rubbish over the last couple of days you'll believe any old conspiracy theory. Time to get the foil coated hat on, 159! ;)

Just like the theme music from "The Sting", you've gotta laugh, the clever bastards. :clap

Barrett is an out and out twit.

For all his raging against what Richmond tried to do, he looked at it from a singular perspective - Polak for Cousins. Not taking into account at all that maybe, just maybe Richmond were sincere in their application and treatment of Graham.

The idiot completely ignores the fact that it is now going to be very difficult for Graham to get back on the field.

Personally, yes I was against the application - But for the right reasons, unlike this idiot. At the end of the day, who loses? Richmond drafted Ben and rookied Dave .... Graham is the only one who has lost anything here.

My reference to Barrett's article was simply to point out how wrong he might have been. Perhaps this was the RFC's deliberate plan all along.

i wonder if barrett will write an article on his own clubs disgraceful membership figure of 5086 even after successive finals campaigns.

thats exactly what i thought when i read the rookie draft selections. if klemke or gourdis werent on our radar for pick 6, who was it? or was it a bluff all along to build support for cousins at richmond?

Previously I thought Barret was an ok journalist, however his last few articles have made me revise my thinking. Now Imo he is a genuine wooden planker.

RFC admin take a bow.
Problem here is we are not used to top administration and the current lot are doing a great job. Sheeds is in the thick of it and is a charismatic influence on the flavour of the club. Hold on for the ride, as we move from strength to strength.

Media definitely got on for the ride, now they might not let up, good for sponsors, interesting for the club, interesting times people.

If there is one thing I have learnt in life is that if you have a choice between conspiracy or stuff up for a explanation of why things happen always go with the stuff up.

The way things panned out was far to complex and had too many twists and turns to be engineered, and certainly not by the RFC, who haven’t been great media managers in the past.

Gotta agree Klink. Way to many things had to fall into place for this to be a well conceived plan by our admin.

Agree, if we could recruit Kent Kingsley with such enthusiam, I cannot for the life of me see how RFC could engineer such a complex turn of events ;D

Or how much media have we lets Cogs do in the last year, raising expectations just before his body would break down again
