Disappointing 1st Round.... again

Always enjoy your stuff Tot,I just cant have that anyone beat Axe other then TW last night 26 touches in about 2/3s of a game an in the second half when he came on he was down in the forward pocket :o.

Theres no doubt they want to get Casserly in there but I think they are going to be extra cautious with him now ,played just on a half for Coburg on saturday,on an off the bench all day

Bugbear 4: Kick-ins again. Nearly every other team in the competition takes the easy option on the kick-in. They run the ball down one flank until they run out of space and the other team forces a boundary throw-in-ON THEIR HALF-FORWARD LINE, 70m from goal. Occasionally, they find a target and score.
Good pickup ToT.It irritates me no-end on how easy it is for the opposition to comeout of their defensive area after a point.

Yep its a shammbles our kick in plans it not a huddle its not a zone its a shammbles an when we do get it to he back flank it starts agian NOTHING

Shultz did nothing once again
Way too hard on Schulz, I thought he was one of the few players who could hold his head high after the game.
10 disposals, 7 marks, 2 goals 1 from maybe 2/3 of a game, he spent a lot of time on the bench. I was right behind the goals on the city end and Schulz definitely only had limited game time, yet still kicked 2 classy goals when they were needed. He made one mistake where a pass inside 50 was cut off, but he chose the right option, it was a rare disposal error from probably our most skilled big man.

They are pretty reasonable numbers from Jay & he was far from our worst yesterday.
I thought he could have got more involved but hadn't realised he'd spent so much time on the bench.
I would hate to be a KPF at the RFC and having to put up with the *smile* delivery our midfield serves up.

I still reckon that, if he's going to make it, it will be as a defender. Big if.

Just don't think he has the smarts up forward.

Bentick took the edge off Foley's game, when he was on. I agree that it is time for him to get proper minutes. He has earnt them.

I haven't seen the first years play so I won't comment on them but Casserley, Meyer, Oakley-Nicholls, White, Hughes, Thursfield and even Jackson are amongst the quickest players we have had at this club in years. Put them in beside Deledio, Raines, Tambling and Foley and other teams are going to have a problem. I know it is impatience and that their time will come, but we have the quickest team in the grandstand and a slow, static team out on the park at the same time. It is time to feed some of this pace into the team. It will take some pressure off the guys who are playing and make us less predictable.

Moore and McGuane were far from our worst players yesterday and we didn't lose anything by playing them. A couple more won't hurt.

TW wants to have team of quick runners. Get them in.

I find it hard to believe that people are having a crack at Jay Schulz. He is a big bloke, of which we have very few, he takes a very good mark and is a great kick. He's not slow on the lead and can lead to the right spots. I think he will be a very good player for us over the years and, up tothis point, hasn't been able to string enough games together to gain any momentum, due to injury. If he stays on the park this year I think he will be a big improver.

As for our prospects this year, I think we will finish between 10th and 15th depending on injuries and form. Anyone suggesting we will make the finals is kidding themselves.

I think TW was the best option for us as a coach at the time and is, in general, a pretty good coach BUT, I get so frustrated by our opponents absolute ease at clearing the ball from their kick-ins and the apparent complete lack of a game plan or even zone trying to stop them. A few times on the weekend there wasn't even anyone within 30 metres of the Carlton player kicking in so he just played on, ran 20 metres. kicked it 50m and all of a sudden the ball is 80m away (including the 10m square) and completely out of danger. The ease at which they then ran up (the same) wing every time was frightening.

We had a lot of players out? We had simmonds and brown out and coghlan hasnt played for 3 years pretty much. Are you referring to knobel and hall? WE HAVE NO DEPTH.

Is't the quality of players we had out that is the issue. In my view, our best 5 players when fit and firing are: Brown, Richo, Simmonds, J Bowden and Coughlan. That is 3 of our best 5 players missing.

Take, say, Fevola, Stevens and Fatnall out of the Calton team and I think we would have had their measure. We have depth IMO, just not of the quality that can match our top 5 players, but then not one other team could boast that sort of depth anyway.

Fatnall was ot of the game wasn't he ;D

I didnt see him and thats saying something ;D

You sound like schevello (Can't spell it).

'Couldn't get a kick in a stampede!'

I'm also not sure why people would get into Schulz, he kicked 2, he's an excellent set shot for goal and he was also directly responsible for the contest that gave Tivendale one of his goals.

And tended to play much better when Richo was further up the ground or when he was off the Ground!!
