Did anyone notice the crowd today between Carlton and Essendon?
Over the last three weeks, these teams have all played each other once at the G. The stats are interesting:
Richmond vs Carlton 54,815
Essendon vs Richmond 58,439
Carlton vs Essendon 32,976
Nobody is flying out of this group and Richmond were hardly raging favourites in any of the matches we played in. Doesn't take match for the Blue and Bomber fans to drop off does it? And it makes you wonder if they were to have experienced the prolonged lack of success that we have had, what condition would they be in now?
At the very least it's hard to understand how Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood are guaranteed two matches against each other each year and we're excluded. Still, one day we'll really show them all when the sleeping giant awakes...
