Does Mike Sheehan know something we don't???

See the Sun today. There goes my choice of a new coach in Voss.

LMAO - as if you'd give an untried coach like Voss a 7 year contract...this new franchise must be run by ex-Richmond administrators.

If it happens[highly doubtful]
Why not go with someone we know in Andy Collins. If you take into account that most of the kids he coached to the GF will be in the Seniors.
Collins for me too Skipper.
(at least until he proves no good) ;D

Lethal Leigh doesnt get much of a mention here on PRE, coaching contracts aint worth anything and the Bears did pinch Northey.

Maybe if Brisbane go nowhere this year.................................

I think the Lions will see Lethal into retirement up in the sun.

He doesnt need to go anywhere else hes done it all and more.

Is it just me or does anyone else get the impression that Voss isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I have been unimpressed by his analysis of the game and his media savvy just isn't there. Great footballer plus three years does not necessarily mean competent coach

According to Luke Darcy on SEN this morning he's extremely smart on footy matters and extremely well prepared. They went to South Africa together to do some training with South African kids and over the course of the visit Voss prepared amazingly detailed dossiers on the most promising players. One suspects he will get some for the Gold Coast team.

********BUMP********

After what I heard today I thought I might bump Graystokes thread from last year:

Mike Sheehan said tonight, in essence, that if Richmond have not won another game by round 6, something would happen at Tigerland. Can't quote him exactly, but obviously he was referring to Wallace being replaced. Quick as a flash, Robert Walls said "who would they replace him with, Mike." End of show.

Now, the likelyhood of Richmond winning the next three would have to be remote. Freo at Subiaco, Doggies at the Dome, then the Hawks at the G. Not a really rosy prospect.

The big question is...is Mike Sheeham privvy to some inside info regarding what may happen if we are 1 and 5 after round 6? Why would he go on national television and say something like that unless he knows something?

Freo next week, Footiscray week after, Wallace being replaced, deja vu isnt it.
Oh by the way here was my little reply to it:

Lethal Leigh, one of the hardest players ever. Premiership player, captain and coach. Currently media commentator still doesnt get much of a mention here.

Does a truly great footballing challenge await him in 2010?

I'm against Lethal myself. Great coach, possibly the best ever, but he'll have been out of the game for a year, he'll have taken on 2 major challenges in Collingwood and Brisbane and done the best with both of them. Would he want another challenge? Let's face it, he was young when he took over Collingwood and they were better than the Tigers are now. Despite the ladder position when he went to the Liars they were also in a lot better shape than the Tigers. Richmond is a basket case, Lethal doesn't want that. I don't know who the best coach for the Tigers is anymore, they've tried everything and nothing seems to be work. I guess I just have to hope that one day they'll get it right.

Thats the whole point KR. And the Chimp does make it sweeter.
It's going to take at least 10 years to get the Tigers to a flag and that's assuming that everything goes right (nothing has for the last quarter of a century, so why would it now?), do you think Lethal has another 10 years left in him? I also think we're overestimating Cotchin at this stage of his career. Even if he turns into the champion we Richmond supporters want him to be he's nothing Matthews hasn't seen before.

Gary March needs to get in the car and make three house calls with the Tiger cheque book in hand
1.Visit Wallace and give him his severance pay
2.Visit Neil Balme and appoint him as director of football
3.Visit Leigh Mathews and appoint him Richmond coach

they were saying on SEN the other week Balme has signed a new deal with Geelong

Gary March needs to get some balls and come out and say that TW will not be coaching RFC next year and we are actively seking a new coach

He should also declare that the rest of the season will be used for development of our kids and whilst TW will continue to coach he will be coaching for talent development at the expense of wins, if TW cannot accept that then he can walk and sever ties
the board or an interim figure will select the team based on the new development strategy

this is called being transparent

everyone knows what we are trying to achieve and we can actively search for and interview prospective coaches, whilst testing and developing our kids

If you can hold on 2 more weeks this will all pan out. Club has maintained that the mid season review is when all will happen and I cannot see them deviating from the party line given the history of flip flops (most recently Cousins drafting).

In fact....reading Greg Denham's article in The Australian this morning (see What the Journos Say) I can see Terry jumping before he gets the tap on the shoulder. He'll have just knocked up his 500th game milestone and the Labour Day long weekend looms. He's probably already booked himself into a spa/solarium for a long weekend away. Monday 1st June looms as D-day!!!!

My Birthday 2nd June cmon Plough gimmee best present. Go back to Hawthorn.
Sheeds Coach on 2nd June walkin in with Hafey Bartlett and McGhie should put wind up a few.
