does this club ever make corrrect moves?

Until we put sentimental garbage aside we will continue to stagnate and go nowhere!

This club doe snot appear to have too many people prepared to make tough calls and have this club moving forward at all levels.

So until we people making tough calls all we are going to do is go around and around achieving nothing and remain the worst performed club in the last 30 years. It is pretty sad that even Melbourne have more finals appearances than us in that period.

What's sadder is that even Fiztroy, a club that hasn't existed for 12 years, do as well, I think.

Our turn will come.

In the meantime ,it's up to us to keep buying memberships and keep the club strong off the field.

Let's aim for 40 thousand members next year!

Let's not eat our own and kill our own club.

No stuff that,I'd love us to get 45 thousand members next year.

That would stick it up the opposition even before the first bounce!!!

Lets go for 42010 in 2010

The biggest (if not only) solid asset our club still has is the fans and members. I would hate to think where we would be now if we had a disinterested bunch of supporters.

Although I'm not superstitious, sometimes I feel that we are cursed and I often ask WHY can't we get it right???? Are back to back finals appearances (let alone one appearance) too much to ask for? Maybe the (?cursed) tiger-skin at Punt Rd should be sent back because nothing has gone right since it arrived at the club in the early 80's. It's been downhill since then.
The reality is that we have too often fallen for the lazy quick fix strategy off the ground. There was no point giving a coach a 5 year deal if he coached as he was on a 2 year deal. Too often we have diverted from well intentioned strategies too easily for the sake of short term expedience both in the football dept and in the board room. All we can do is LEARN from our past mistakes and not repeat them.

Agree with this, but then the membership needs to show similar patience. When we finally rid ourselves of the Casey administration (good try phantom - pity about the membership) we had a chance to get things moving and i think the biggest blight on our recent history is the lack of execution we showed in the 'rebuilding' strategy. In fact our ability to execute strategy is the consistent flaw in our last 20 years. (the old adage that strategy IS execution rings true).
It is not a necessary tactic this rebuilding - but from our point of view i would like to see us actually stick to whatever our strategy is, just once.
Hopefully we are 1 week down that path, so maybe now isn't the time for a tantrum Zippa.

My take on all this is what has the club really got wrong in the last 18 months or so?...even with all the media freny etc...after it all dies down most, media inclusive look aback and have said well actually they didn't handle that too badly. Yes there have been a couple of minor media debacles...but nothing earth-shattering. People bagged March for marking the club at 5/10...wow...he was obviously correct. Tony Free questioned the footy department...looks like now perhaps he was correct. It's all cause and effect...and I generally think some of the "leaks" have been quite deliberate to gain a net effect at some point.
March - saying the right things....actual...I am out currently as the on field runs are missing...off the ground looks ok
Wright - quiet genius, best thing the club as found
Cameron - not 100% sold yet, will watch the list closely next 18 months
Free - Maybe, and it's a big maybe is the "maverick" required at board level to wake people up to the fact at the end of the day yes it's a business, but it's core business is football and winning as such.
Wallace - at the time well lauded, within 2 years the skinny flanker / no plan B policy was exposed and the slide began.
So I'll just sit back and watch with interest
