What worries me about the game against geelong is that terry will go all out defensive. This happened against the bombers under frawley when they were pumping-we got smashed in the first half-too negative-never recovered.I would hope that the players would be instructed to just have a go,like freo did. :-\

I agree gold. We've never had any great success by being negative and our most impressive footy is when we've backed ourslves. As for going negative towards the end of a game we're winning and thus throwing it away grrrrrrrr :frustration

Take 'em on Tiges.

As soon as I saw the thread topic I thought exactly the same thing... in fact the end of the Bulldogs game sprang to mind way too quickly. That game was a perfect example of having great success until switching to a defensive mindset, and which time... *hears buzzer sound* nothing good.

Go Tiges!

Hear hear. And I was very disappointed that Terry dismissed criticism of this. Would be more impressed if he had taken it on the chin and said "Yes, it was a coaching error to turn off at the end of the game. I'll learn from that and instruct the team to go flat out next time we are in front near the finishing post."

The Bulldogs had started their run prior to us going defensive. The draw was more about them firing up in the last quarter and less about us going defensive. Maybe we would have won if we kept trying to attack but we'll never know.

We've got to take their gameplan, and give them some of their own medicine. Run with the footy and attack!

I dont think it matters one iota what Wallet does to be honest.

Corey, Ling, Enright, Bartel, Chapman, Ablett, Scarlett, Kelly and Mooney for a start versus, Jackson, McGuane, Pattison, Hyde, Moore, Tuck, Johnson, etc mmmm nope it doesnt matter too much i reckon what Wallet does. ;)

My point exactly,it is a tall order, but if you go into a game by being defeatist, you will lose.I think we all would like to see the Tiges have a real crack at it.If only for my sake.I live in Geelong :help

We didnt go defensive against the bullies or the hawks, cant see us changing for the cats! Although we could try the style we used against adelaide??? would rather not see it, but if we pulled up four points then GO FOR IT!

Terry........

Go For It!

All out, full on attack. Hard accountable exciting, unpredictable, football....just the way the kids like it.

Have faith in them let them learn and give them the licence to attack relentlessly. Let the fight and fight and win!

there was not a chance in hell they would have drawn with us if we kept attacking.
we at least would have scored one bloody point,if not a goal or 2 which would have been enough.
we had been attacking all day and it resulted in us outplaying them and having a lead of 3 or 4 goals with 5 minutes to go.
why you wouldn`t continue to play that way until the final siren is ridiculous.
it`s like saying gee we`re lucky to be in this position with a few minutes to go,let`s slow down and we might hang on and win.
instead of thinking, right,we`ve outplayed these pricks now let`s just keep going and win by 5 or 6 goals.
the worst case scenario being the opposition may kick a few but we only need to kick one, maybe 2 and we`re home.

i was worried about his lack of focus on that too,it was quite clearly the reason why we didn`t win in the end.
we had outplayed them and had them on toast.
i hope terry gave them a massive bake in the rooms after the game about it.
i can`t stand that tempo crap.

i don`t think we`ll go defensive,it doesn`t suit our team at all,i think we`ll get thrashed even worse if we go defensive.
we just need to have the same attitude like we had against the dogs, freo and the hawks.
use our pace and take them on.
it`s the only way we will beat any side because that is our strength.

i just hope we don`t get humiliated to be honest,i don`t think we will though.
if we can be competitive and get within 4 or 5 goals that will be a pass and a massive improvement from the 157 point massacre at the same stage last year.

They're basically the same Cats we beat 2 years ago (or was it 3?).

They are also the same Cats that have whipped us by a rough combined total of 250 pts the last 3 times weve played em. 8)

lets just play the game, let the coach do his stuff and see what happens
we wont be robinson caruso if we get smacked
its just another test and learning opportunity for the kids, thats why we must resist the urge to bring guys like bowden, pettifer and tivendale back

What about versus Foley, Deledio, Richo, Reiwoldt, Thursty, King, Newman................ Looks a fair bit better than your attempt to talk down the side.

Because they had begun to string goals together and were getting the ball out of the clearances. If we had stayed attacking its conceivable that they would have scored more goals.

Add to that list spirit, determination, hardwork and desire. COuple these with pride and mateship, running down the lines rather than across the lines and really working some good teams over. These kids will push the cats if they play their own game. Their spirit matches the best, their determination exceeds all but the very best. Let them play and learn and grow as a team.

Go Tigers!
