For 2006 anyway. The tough draw next year may be a blessing in disguise.Don't get me wrong would love to see the tiges surprise us all by playing in the finals but realistically we may need to dip into the draft one more time before making a sustained rise up the ladder and be a power side for 4-5 years.
Looking at the geelong, eagles, saints and the rising doggies model we need to stay lowish and build a pool of good kids.(which i think we.re already doing)
I'll be happy to see any of patto, shultz polo, rodan, jacko raines and meyer get some serious game and be holding a spot in the team.Be nice to see limbach and mcguane mature body wise and starting to push 4 a game late in season.
Got a positive feeling about the latest batch, but will be good to see them develop their bodies at coburg and come along without being pushed.
Without getting to carried away i believe we've got the best batch of kids for 25years, we've just got to be patient, and let em come thru when their ready. We all know success will come its a matter of when their ready.
The key will be lots of rookies, and pensioning off surplus players 4 earlier picks.

Eyeing out a flag will be last thing on the minds of the club, purely because we don't have the cattle. Realistically, I don't think the coaching panel believe 'the right mix' of players are at the club at the moment, although at the end of the day, 'the flag' is what every team is playing for.

Personally, if TW doesn't nail the likes of patto, shultz, polo, rodan, jacko, raines and meyer into the structure of the team, we won't be 2 drafts away from a good team, I reckon we'll be 3-4 drafts away, and that's a mighty drop in expectations. Then the question should be raised whether the recruiting department have fullfilled their duties, but that'll be a big call when we cross that bridge.

If we stay free of injury and play to form I think we can get to the finals but we won't make much of an impression.

But yes, a consistent level of talent through the lines is at least one draft away.

Reckon we have finally some real talent coming thru the club! But i'm not sure if we appreciate fully appreciate the kids coming thru. In one word"deledio".
When was the last time a club had a player come in and play 22 games straight up and win the rising star in his first year. we're talking a "Chris Judd" type already on our list. Lets watch him develop over the next 2-3 years and he'l still be only 21.
By this time polo, meyer, tambling, patto from the same draft will be physically advanced and hopefully holding down senior spots. Not to mention foley and Thursfield coming off the rookie list in the same year. Could be the bumper crop that the rfc sets up the next 2-5 years on.

With the talk of him already becoming a bit of a leader figure me thinks he will have the on ground impact of James Hird with the skills of Judd. I am salivating at the next 5+ years

Expectations - the most awful word in the English language.

What some people expect can be entirely different to what others can or want to deliver!

Wrong expectations can be the downfall of many a talented footballer - he is expected to be a champion but in truth he is a solid performer, inside player or link man. Another is expected to play full forward and kick the best part of 100 goals each season - in truth he is a solid forward - third tall maybe who can kick 40 to 50 goals per season.

With the wrong expectations on young shoulders it can wear away at the psyche to the extent that he considers himself a failure - even though in reality he has performed to his absolute best under trying circumstances.

Please let us allow Delidio to mature into whatever role is right for him - next year &/or the year after he like Hird and Judd will be tagged off the ground. He will be a singular focus for the opposition - he will need to add new dimensions to his game - is he the champion we all want him to be? - are there are a few around him that are nearly as good or even better? Time will tell - but please let him have his own mountain to climb - not ours as well!

In the end I hope they all become very good footballers in a champion Tiger team and enjoy their footy........

Your right remote, look what happened to Todd Menengola ( W.A Boom recruit) ;D :hihi :rofl
