As 2006 passes us by it is probably time to reflect on these trades and what it has meant to us and the other clubs involved. Personally I think we have done well to off load these 3 and I think what we got in return (Simmonds and Knobel-if I'm not mistaken) has been really good for us. As for the 3 chosen ones--
Ottens-
an injury plagued year- with some glimpses of form-much like his last 3 tears at RFC-not worth the money he DEMANDS-I know alot of Geelong supporters who have jumped off his bandwagon-and has not indeared himself to some down there with"other issues".
Fiora
Started like a house on fire pre season-played some useful games early on-but has faded to the extent that he was only called up in round 22 as half the side was injured-he would not make their best 25!!(I thought he might have gone OK as an outside player in that team-has not happened)
Zantuck-
What more needs to be said-missed most of the second half of the season, indiscretions about late nighting, missed compulsory training sessions, rumoured fall out with Captain and Coach-delisting immenent -sound familiar????
Any way you want to cut it -we are miles in front with these trades!

Miles in front of the trades?  You really can't help bad luck, can you?  I don't think it's fair to give a judgement, especially when they are injured.  You should also look on the other side of the coin, and ask yourself over a several year period, if Knobel and our 3rd pick in the 2004 were a good choice!

Wasnt our third pick in the 2004 Draft Danny Meyer??? Yes good Choice, and dont forget Knobel had the pubis after round 9 restricting him a bit...

On Big footy they were going feral towards anyone who said a bad thing about Ottens. Now the know what we have been going through. I hope for Brad's sake he gets a year in him to actually show what he is worth, but I doubt it.

Zantuck... you gotta laugh at this baffoon. Had Lloyd mouthing off with him about our club & bagging it like no tomorrow at the start of the year. Hmm interesting they have been bitten. Interesting to see if he deos get delisted. Essendon with egg on their face, you gotta luv it ! :hihi

As an evaluation of this year tradewise, we have come out on top IMO. Can't help bad luck or injury, thats true, but it still has to be factored in when looking at the success of the season. We had several years of bad luck with Ottens and his injury riddled back, so from that perspective, it was good we didn't have to endure another year of it. Will that change over the coming years? Who knows, but for as for the now, we are in front.

As for Fiora and Zantuck, well I was kinda hoping Fiora lifted his game a little in a team thats in premiership contention, but Zantuck, good riddence and glad his ego isn't our problem anymore.

Hi All - my first post.

Our best delisting - FRAWLEY.

Without this one - none of the others would have eventuated.

Ottens first half of the season was good but then injuries brought his season to an abrupt end.Did we miss him? No.Zantuck & Fiora did very little & could both even be delisted shortly.

Zantuck is likely to be on the market again. It didn't take my Bomber friends long to change their tune on him. They went from feeling smug about picking him up for nothing to feeling cheated in about two months.

Fiora? Has not advanced at all for several years now. He won't last too much longer.

As for young Brad, what more can be said?

Your bomber friends tried to tune Ty Zantuk???? WHY

Bomber friends in January, "Zantuck will be a Star at a Quality Club"

Bomber friends in August, "Richmond shafted Us"

Even Stevens, we gave em Zantuck in return for Bumfield. :nopity

:gotigers

i'm with 5SKULL5... as they say in the classics... actions speak louder than words

Ottens ;my preseason mail was on the money about his fitness and attitude at Catland
Zantuck; One day when he is homeless and scabbing smokebutts he will regrett his fritted chances
Fiora;More suited to ???? well l dont know waht the hell he is suited to

Since the first month of the season i have been able to lay it on my Bomber, Cats and Saints mates without fear of retailiation with conviction. Says it all. Everyone knows which parties got legged here.

With regard to paying Zantuck to be at Essendon, our only error was not offering to pay more to have him go to Collingwood.

This topic reminds me of a joke:

A gay man, a transvestite and a junkie walk out of a footy club.................

Scared, weird, big guy - make a good comedy act?

Anyway - trades need time - more than a year to know who did over who, but yep RFC's nose is in front at the mo.........
