Did anybody hear Liam Pickering on SEN discussing the best player for the 2006 season to come out of last years draft?

He put forward 4 players - Murphy of Carlton, Hurn of West Coast, Jones of Melbourne and Oakley-Nicholls of Richmond - which I found interesting. He has no conflict with pumping up his players as they are not all in his stable.

I hope his judgement proves correct! For mine I think our bloke is the least physically developed of the quartet.

I don't think JON will play enough games, but the way Tambling is travelling at the moment, he might have a good chance of taking out the prize!.

Tambling played 12 games last year which I think is 3 too many.

I don't think JON's manager is Pickering which is why I wonder as to his judgment or information source.

Mmmm, I hope Liam is better at predicting who will be stand outs, I remember the year when Fiora was drafted to the Tigs and KB had Sheenan(the one that has something to do with the under age comp) on Sports 927.
KB asked Sheehan whos the future brownlow medalist out of this lot - Mr Sheenan predicted one, Aaron Fiora as his choice,Oh my lord I bet he doesnt think that now....

Fiona was quite highly rated when he was drafted, the scouts obviously didn't test for heart or brains. I can't see, actually I don't want to believe that Richmond could make the same mistake again with JON. It would be nice to have consecutive Rising Star awards at the club, though.

What a buzz that would be.

C'mon JON boy :gotigers

have read alot of posts (including mine :o) which say that JON wont play seniors this year based purely on the fact that he is physically underdeveloped.

Now i know the step up to AFL is alot different to anything else he has achieved but by all reports, he plays his football in a very un challenging way as in he is generally unfazed by anything and approaches and plays accordingly which in my book 90% of the battle with taking the next step :clap

Jarrad gives me the vibe that he could be an extreme, either a total champ or ... well lets not go there but my GUESS is he's one of those anomalies that happen in football every now and again ala mcadam, bartlett etc etc etc. A big risk factor sure, but if that risk falls our way then its gonna be something very special.

as we are all very well aware (although some i dont know) that preseason heroes does not exactly translate into real season heroes so i wouldnt be surprised if one, Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls steps up to the plate ( sorry ;D) this year and excites from the word go.

Very good point blx.

I sometimes wonder if K Bartlett would get a game if he turned up today ;D

That doesn't even mean anything Claw, put something on the line. Say that you wont touch a drop of grog for a month if he does! Or if your after a real challenge say that you wont write a negative post for a month if he does play a game next year.
Personally, I would be amazed if he didn't get a game at least late in the year as that would mean he has massively underachieved in my eyes. Last year Meyer played quite a few games with an underdeveloped body so there is no reason that JON cant. They will at least give him that experience to take into the next year.

I don't see anyone other that Marc Murphy winning this years Rising Star Award. He is certainly the class act of the draft and we Carltons playing list, should play every game of the season, barring injury.

Don't be suprised should Nathan Foley poll well in the Rising Star Award.
