In light of how well the likes of Harry Taylor and Bradd Dalziell have done this year, having both come out of the WAFL at 21yrs old, I think our recruiters should be looking in the WAFL, VFL, SANFL etc. A strong CHB body would be of great help to our backline next year, especially if we can get a young player without having to make a trade. I hope that Rance will be in the team next year, along with the current regulars of Moore, Thursfield, McGuane, Bowden and Newman.

If we do follow this path, Thursfield will no longer have to play on the #1 or #2 forward, and Bowden's retirement at the end of next season won't come as much of a loss. Our backline and our field kicking have been our two biggest deficiencies in recent years, and if we can help solve the problem this off-season I say go for it.

What is the general feeling on this idea?

Does anybody know of some young talents in the leagues around the country?

Funny I was watching Taylor today and thinking much the same thing today. You can be pretty sure they'll be ready to step up immediately.

I have always been a fan of looking for mature age players in the SANFL, VFL or WAFL. Obviously with King, Silvester, Howat and Cartledge we have had a few but none have really kicked on.

Not just talls though, Porpylzia is very good and was taken as a mature age player. Bernie Vince has had a very good year for the crows and he was also a mature age recruit.

We should look at Lukas Markovic. 192cms, 90kgs CHB or CHF from Box Hill. He spent a year on Hawthorns rookie list but was out all year with a broken ankle. Hawthorn will rookie him again this year though i am told.

Just watch the clubs scrounging around for bypassed players once the G.C. starts getting into the draft.

Taylor would not be getting a game if Egan was fit.
That's because he's in the best team in the league, he could easily make it into any other team's backline. Prismall got 27 touches yesterday and will still probably be dropped.
