Well done to Jake. I would be happy to see rookies taken regularly from Coburg.

It would encourage good young players who are motivated to come to the club knowing they are a chance at the big time. That in turn would lift the attitude, playing calibre and morale around Coburg. All that would make it a better place for our fringe players to learn the game. All in all it would build a strong sense of club.

Any dissenting views?

It's really important to the recruiters at Coburg that we establish a pathway from Coburg to AFL football. Richmond can do this.

Coburg gets stronger. So does Richmond.

Ideally, other clubs pick the eyes out of Coburg because it's so strong.

Yep it would be wonderful but only if selection was warranted ahead of other options. I'm rapt Kingy has been selected and hope it inspires others at Coburg to put in the hard yards and maybe get a chance at AFL level themselves.

Plough & Collo might be trying to get a bit of the old club atmosphere back into the RFC & Coburg FC Partnership.Sixty bloke's training, socialising & protecting each other produce's great mateship.

Looks like TW agrees.  :clap

We are trying to get as many young kids down to Coburg with (former Hawthorn premiership player) Andy Collins coaching them and it shows out when one of their own gets the opportunity to get selected (by Richmond).

"It shows (to a young hopeful) that if you go down there and put your head down we will pick you because you are part of us."

It is certainly a good idea to encourage good players to play somewhere where Richmond will not only see them play but see them train etc and get to know them.
