poor old brad smith. is placed on wce list as a 24 25 after tearing the wafl apart.injures his knee 2 yrs in a row without playing a senior game and those *smile* headed ^&&&**(^&^%$@ no hopers demetrio and anderson think hes not a special case for the rookie list but ramanauskis is. at least rama has had some sort of career. if smith is not a special case i dont know what is.

might sound harsh and i'll probably get flamed but,
I dont agree with Rama getting put on the rookie list.
Rules are rules and if they are going to be petty about about a yellow ribbon and short socks then
they could stick to the black and white(yellow) rules.
Essendon should have to bite the bullet and either put him on the list or delist him.

Personally I think that one rookie spot should be unrestricted, so any age could apply for one position.

And claw, your right, those two are grade A tools

I agree, why have all these rookie rules and then have special exemptions based on someone's opinion? Make it open to all.

And.....yes.....the names in the subject are tools

I see everyone's point, though the Rama case was put to all 15 other clubs who agreed to the exception, I assume on compassionate grounds.
I know rules are rules & it is a business these days etc, but lets not forget it is a game when it is all boiled down.
The reality of it is, Essendon could have delisted him, given him a 'marketing' role & he announces he is retired, then bang he is redrafted next year. They have put it to the AFL & the other clubs and everyone has agreed. No problem in my eyes, if anything, it is refreshing to see this happen. Humanity is still alive!
If people want to look at it from a footy perspective, just think of Essendon playing a man short next year because of this, if it makes it easier for you.

no problem the tools showing compassion to rama but what about a bit of compassion for smith.

How many people's lives are threatened from knee reco's as opposed to cancer.

i actually thought we were talking footy careers regardless of the malay a special case is a spesial case. in footy terms smith has done it harder than rama. hes had to go thru minor leagues to prove himself hes had to wait until 25 to get on a list and when he finally gets on one he does his knee twice still without the opportunity to play afl.
ramananauskis could die tomorrow but he can go to his grave saying he had a distinguished footy career he has been given that opportunity where as smith is being denied it because of circumstances.
i would have thought a little compassion and common sense would prevail that would allow a young man to achieve his dreams.
