Eagles V Crows

Watching the game yesterday..one thing stood out for me - midfields win matches...and get teams into Premiership contention. THe eagles led by cousins, judd, kerr, fletcher, embley....they just went up a gear after half time and were just outstanding. Hence i now am on the Joel Selwood bandwagon....get him to Punt Road Miller......I dream of future days when :

Deledio is our Judd
Tambling our Kerr
Raines our Cousins
Polo our Embley
Meyer our Fletcher
and then Selwood, White, Foley, JON etc etc

...midfields and, of course, a power forward win premierships.

Oh just to add on to that - the age comparisons:

Judd 23       - Deledio 19
Kerr 23        - Tambling 20
Cousins 28  - Raines 20
Embley 25   - Polo 20
Fletcher 27  - Meyer 20

....that also means i have to be patient  ;)
I agree with what you say 8 Ball, but with cox dominating and getting 27 touches himself, an elite ruckman wouldn't go astray either.

I dont think of Cox as a ruckman...he shouldve been AA ruck rover....he is an absolute gun!

You're not wrong. He was definately an extra midfielder for them yesterday. What an asset to have at your disposal.

Thought the Crows were gone by half way through the third quarter. They did well to fight the game out. Shame they couldn't have fielded a full and fit side. With Cox on a rampage, they couldn't afford to lose Biglands. The ruck is already a weakness.

WC's midfield was awesome but as usual almost all of their goals were hard goals. They constantly set to pockets and high on the flanks. It's a very ordinary forward line.

The Eagles look to be about where they were this time last year. Maybe even a little ahead. One bloke who is in close to career best form is Stenglein.

Sydney, OTOH looks to be a bit behind. No J.Ball. Jolly and Doyle make up the worst ruck division I can remember in a GF. (Knobel is classes better than either of them IMO.) Schneider has gone backwards, Kennelly is struggling to find space, Mathews half fit, Williams and Maxfield retired. Malceski and McVeigh have been improvers but they are not so flush that Ted Richards misses a game.

But Sydney has one huge factor in its favour. If O'Loughlin had been fit (remember, he struggled to kick 25m at times last GF) they'd have won last year's game by thirty points, IMO. He's fit this year.

I've really liked the way Roos has used Fosdike to improve his team's run as the game wears on. Maybe Worsfold will have a little plan to combat that. He should.

Let's hope it's a fine day and may the better team win.
