Elevating a rookie/Long term injury list [Merged]

Re: Long term injury list.

it shouldnt be accidents or no. we are running a business that requires running at a professional level regardless of what goes on out of its control.

I knew some idiot like you would come out and post a response like that!

FFS its not even 48 hours since the accident happened. I am sure the footy department aren't sitting around discussing who they should promote and that certainly shouldn’t have any reflection on their professionalism. There is two weeks until the next game anyway.

I think the welfare of Graham is what they are thinking about at the moment.

Whilst the welfare of GP would be paramount in the minds of the RFC at the moment, his immediate recovery is being handled by the medico's.

Hence not tomorrow or the next day, but in the very near future, this issue will come up and be addressed in a professional manner.

Adversity gives someone the opportunity to shine, amongst all the sadness/concern being felt at the moment with GP.

Agree completely Skiddy.

can't believe I am saying this but I agree with claw. I'm sure discussions about whether to elevate, and who, have already started. Maybe not in detail but I'm sure someone has said to those that have a say "have a think about elevating a rookie and we'll go into detail in a couple of days".

That's no disrespect for Polly. That's doing what the club needs to do. If he had been killed then I think a couple of days mourning could be accepted, but that's not the case here.

Of course they are thinking about it. I'm sure the issue of Coughlan has brought up this discussion within the club anyway of elevation. Cartledge would seem to be the obvious choice at this stage. Angus Graham is not up to it at this stage. Simmonds and Cartledge will allow Simmo to be 2nd string ruckman and rest more in the forward line or on the bench. If his injury requires rest then I can't really see any other choice than Cartledge.

Spot on Goody!

No love for Silvestor?

McGuane, Polak injured, Thursfield on the recovery, Bowden who everyone seems to think shouldn't be down there in the first place, Rance unproven and Schulz even less so.

Our tall defensive stocks really start and end with Moore at the moment. A strong bodied defender could be rather handy...assuming of course we're still trying win games here.

I agree that Cartledge would be the logical choice especially if Simmonds is injured, but don't discount the Big Cat getting a nod.

Cartledge is the one to elevate.
Got to see what he has to offer in the ruck or delist him at year's end.

Yep. No brainer. Been the stand out

With the exception of Collard, all our rookies are all too old to be kept on the rookie list at the end of the year.
This means that we only get a look at them this year, Howat has had plenty of chances and is hardly tearing it up at Coburg, the cat looked horribly out of his depth in the NAB Cup and Thursfield & McGuane should be available for the next round.
We need to find a long term replacment for Simmonds, so Carteledge needs to get a go for the rest of the season.

thank you baloo life can be tough. but life goes on and those in charge have a job to do.
i cant see where ive been disrespectful to polak or the club on this. personally he has my deepest sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery. normally i wouldnt feel the need to publicly state this. but it seems if we arent seen to be nice we are arseholes by some on this site being nice doesnt make you right.. i dont know the bloke hes an employer who needs to be replaced in the short term. injury aside its been my view he should be replaced long term as well. that may well be the case and it would be rotten circumstances for it to happen in.grahams injury should not be an excuse or stop the club from making decisions on him. by all means we do have 2 weeks before our next game. polak is going to go on the ltil for sure out of respect we can delay for a short time but at the end of the day we need to make the anouncement.

Well I, for one didn't take your statement as being disrespectful, Claw.
I think you were only stating the obvious. There's no way Polly will play again this year. I'm sure all at the club and genuine supporters have Pollys health and well being at heart. But, the game does go on and decisions will still need to be made.

It seems to me that elevating Cartledge is the most obvious choice for the rookie to be promoted. Our ruck stocks are thing ( or out of form) and we don't really need Silvester down back at this point in time with Thursfield, Moore, Schulz etc able to play down back.

Therefore I expect Cam Howat to be promoted.
