Elite AFL athletes

The year Cousins won his Chas, Cogs was our leading vote getter.

A good omen me thinks.

Where do you get these brownlow vote / games from? What are the current stats for RFC? Can you align them with winning games versus losing games? I would guess that MR would have a huge percentage with winning games
A very interesting point Hetti. It also ties in with the early Brownlow thread discussion where someone suggested looking at teams expected to lift their winning percentages next season.

Leading Brownlow votegetters of note:-

Player Games Wins Votes Win% Votes/game Votes/Win
N Buckley 280 117 178 42% 0.64 1.52
C Judd 155 93 110 60% 0.71 1.18
M Richardson 276 115 134 42% 0.49 1.17
S West 324 152 175 47% 0.54 1.15
R Harvey 383 194 215 51% 0.56 1.11
B Cousins 238 134 141 56% 0.59 1.05
S Crawford 305 154 159 50% 0.52 1.03
G Williams 250 150 154 60% 0.62 1.03
S Black 233 139 142 60% 0.61 1.02
I Stewart 205 139 139 68% 0.68 1.00
M Ricciuto 312 162 146 52% 0.47 0.90
M Voss 289 167 150 58% 0.52 0.90
J Hird 253 147 125 58% 0.49 0.85
B Harvey 264 147 125 56% 0.47 0.85
A Goodes 230 127 107 55% 0.47 0.84
A McLeod 304 166 132 55% 0.43 0.80
P Bell 286 156 106 55% 0.37 0.68

Current Richmond players:-
Of interest is Cogs very good 0.94 votes/win ratio and Simmonds win rate. That includes his Freo games. In 2007 he played 10 games for us and we lost every one of them. In 2005-6 and 2008 he played 65 games, we won 32 and drew one. This highlights how important a fit Simmonds is to RFC.

Player Games Wins Votes Win% Votes/game Votes/Win
M Richardson 276 115 134 42% 0.49 1.17
B Cousins 238 134 141 56% 0.59 1.05

C Newman 133 45 11 34% 0.08 0.24

I think the table more reflects that the longer you play, the more Brownlow votes you accumulate.
Would have thought the table reflects that the 100 plus vote getters are elite career players.
Plenty of players have one or two year patches where they might poll heavily.
These guys may have one or two ordinary years out of fifteen or more and poll consistently for their entire careers.
It's easy to forget that only three player from 44 per match can poll votes. The fourteen listed are as good as you will get.

god that was disappointing, it would have been a really good story and everyone would have been happy I reckon. The big fella just needed to dominate in the last round when we pantsed the demons.
AGree,saved his worst for last

Thank you Hayfever. The Votes / Win column reflects the fact that M Richardson is the cause of RFC winning matches. The question is, will he be such a dominant cause next year. (But N Buckley is astonishing!)

If the Brownlow is a rigged competition, then 2009 must be the year for his victory. The outpouring of emotion, the open weeping, the spontaneous gatherings of joyous citizens at Punt Road. If you are an umpire here and reading this, please take the $81 at Centrebet, or get the better elsewhere.
