English Premier League 2007-08.

Gotta love the swings & $$$ matched on the betfair markets for next mgr.

already over 750 G's matched on the next chelsea mgr market.

Carlo Ancelotti is the big firmer 120's into 6's & 2nd fav behind a solid Mancini @ $3.30

Hughes & Scolari @ 8's on the next line. Double figures the rest.

they've had a next Man Utd mgr market up for years. over 200,000 matched. imagine havin ya $$$ tied up till Fergie leaves in 20 years time ha ha.

And he's been flung. Rijkaard lengthening.
Scolari said to be the preferred, Hughes 2nd favourite.

I can't see Rijkaard getting the job considering he found it difficult to control the egos of Ronaldinho, Henry, and Eto'o at Barca....so how would he go at Chelsea dealing with Drogba, Anelka, and Ballack? :don't know

I don't know why the 'latest news' coming out is that Mancini has left Inter when I was under the impression that he quit Inter as soon as Liverpool beat them in the Champs.League.... ??? and to me, this sudden departure while Inter were still going fine domestically meant that the job as Chelsea was already promised to him.
I think Mancini has always been a shoe-in for the Chelsea job since that day....and the only thing stopping it being done and dusted is that maybe Roman is having second thoughts and doesn't want to rush into it like he did with Grant.

Well, he said the other day that he will stay at ManWho for another 3 years, maximum.....so it will be interesting to see who they go for to take over. Queiroz? Hughes? Keane?
I guess we'll worry about it when the time comes though...

I'm not sure NYT. He can speak Italian and Portugese so how hard can it be? ;) Capello's only just had his first news conference in English and Ramos used an intepreter at Spurs (forgotten his name - former Chelsea and Spurs player. . . starts with a P. . . . damn it!) so who knows these days.

There's every chance he won't have to worry about Drogba or Anelka of course. Nevertheless I agree. I think the jury's out on just how good he was at Barca.

Gus Poyet.

Not sure about Ramos, but Capello could speak english before taking the job. He just wanted to make sure he wasn't portrayed in the press the same way Ranieri was when Ranieri first started at Chelsea.

Ramos couldn't and by the end of the season was still very poor. All press conferences and interviews I've seen have been done either with or through Poyet. Capello only had his first press conference in English just recently after having had an intensive course in English since his appointment. Hearing him I can only assume his English was very poor when he started.

How many's he won Liver?

Trophies you mean?

One Champs.League....one FA Cup...one Super Cup...and one Community Shield.

A Prem.League title would look nice on the resume though... ;)

With Mourinho now at Chelsea expect an exodus to some extent. In my opinion this pretty much opens the door up for Drogba, but how can you play big zlat and dids in the same team?

You want ego’s? None bigger than Zlatan and that’s another reason why Dids and Zaltan wont go, but if they strike it off, watch out. Throw in Cruz, Stankovic and Figo, that pretty much equals success.

Essien may walk out and they say Lampard isn’t a certain starter either, Chelsea may start fresh on 08/09! Mourinho has stated that Essien is no.1 on his list and so he should be, he holds a team together just as good as anyone.

Didnt Rijkard win every title with Barca before the wheels fell off? He was responsible for names like Eto and Deco wasnt he? I think he can do it at Chelsea.

...but then add Ronaldinho and Henry and Messi....and it was too many egos in one place.

Where Barca made the mistake was signing Henry.
They didn't need him with Ronaldinho, Messi, Eto'o and Gudjohnsen up front.
Buying Henry was similar to Real Madrid when they went through their 'Galactico' era.....and we know that didn't work as well as they hoped.
Since they have gone back to buying players to play as a TEAM they have started to do far better in the league (still disappointing in the Champs.League though)

I still reckon Mancini for the Chelsea job.

Their problem was that they didnt mix enough as well. Yaya Toure was a great signing, Henry not so good, it was more of a power move. But barca had a big challenge, you throw in villareal and atletico, then you have some competition, so it wasnt that easy. They did make the semi's in the CL which was a better effort than la liga, they handed it over to real again too easily.

If Mancini enters the picture and expect a well drilled coach, but he too failed at CL level, Rijkard has ticket all the boxes.

Don't be surprised if Guus gets the gig. At a recent interview, did not rule it out as strongly as prior occasions. Roman currently pays his Russian Manager salary.

Looks like Hughes might be a cert for the City job.

I see Ronaldo is now giving the impression he might go to Real but not yet...."within a year".... ::)

And Mourinho wants to take a few of the Chelsea players across...
Hmm...Drogba would be one...Lamps? Carvalho? Essien?

Fun times ahead! :-\

Flipside is how will the Russian Soccer Federation feel if Roman pinches the manager who has agreed to stay on for 2010.

It was reported that Chelsea are to interview Rijkaard and Mancini next week. If true why has it taken so long? Was Ancelotti the one they really wanted and they've finally given up on him? There was another report that Scolari's agent has flagged some interest with Chelsea. He's my preferred choice.

If it is to be Big Phil they'll have to wait until Portugal are out of Euro 08 and that worries me. With Jose already out with his cheque book and a few of our players loose it leaves us exposed.

By the way, it's been suggested that Jose really wants Ashley Cole, a name not on many lists.

He's a hard guy to like. When he shows such disrespect to Ferguson who, like him or not, is one of the greats of the game and has overseen Ronaldo turing from a lightweight with a lot of tricks to one of the worlds best well. . . He has reportedly had the message passed to Ferguson that he is "not welcome" to come and see him at Portugal's training facility, despite Scolari saying he was happy with it.

It's easy to forget (and he seems to have) that there were a lot who felt he was a pretender in his first 2 years at Man U but they've turned him into a star of the highest order. I have no problem with him wanting to go to Real Madrid but he's 23 - what's the rush? Are they a bigger club than Man U? No. Is the Spanish League stronger and more competitive than the Premier League? No.

In his "greatness" he seems to have forgotten lying face down in the grass at Luhzniki Stadium crying uncontrollably in relief that they won despite his arrogant penalty miss while his team mates all partied down the end of the field.
