Looking forward to all the Chelsea fans on here who bagged Rafa change their tune now... :hihi

Rafa brought in to get the best out of Torres...

Dropped Torres...a 50-million pound investment = sacked

Nothing to do with Torres. It's really not all about ex-Liverfool players and managers.
The past five managers for Chelsea have all been sacked or departed at about 250 days tenure. See this article for the gory details. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/nov/21/roman-abramovich-chelsea-roberto-di-matteo And everyone knows Rafa is just gonna be keeping the seat warm until Roman can twist Pep's arm.

I did like this comment beneath the article...

How depressing that an obviously decent man like Rafa Benítez, hounded and vilified by the English media in his first stint as a manager in England, should now be reduced to managing Chelsea.

How many titles did he win at Liverpool again?

Was at a club that was bought at the 11th hour before going bust and had to sell players to buy players.

Won a couple of La Ligas to break the el-classico stronghold, a UEFA Cup, an FA Cup, a Champs.League, and two time UEFA manager of the year.... so isn't all bad ;)

Its all about Torres.
You have a player that played his best under Rafa...a player that cost Roman 50-million.
Why else would you put him in charge now?
Its not because the Chelsea fans approve of it, trust me :cutelaugh

Yeah, I agree that Roman may want Guardiola in the long term, but Rafa was chosen now because of Torres.
Simple as that.

Sorry, how many league titles at Liverpool again? I seem to have missed your response to that very specific question.

As for Torres, the Spanish Michael Owen. Lost that yard of pace, will never be the same player again. If Abramovic signed Benitez to revive Torres' career, he's throwing more good money after bad.

Exactly right. Zero. That's my point.

And?

I don't see what you';re on about here Antman.

ThePercies simply stated that he thinks Rafa is a fantastic manager and it wouldn't surprise him if he won the title now.

How many he won in the past with another club is superfluous to the current situation.

Then you go on about Pep Guardiola...who lo and behold, has won zero Prem League titles as well.

Its a pretty simple situation really when Roman wants the best out of 50-mill investment and Rafa, in the past, has been that man.
Add a good European pedigree as a bonus and mix it all around and up pops a Rafa :)

I didn't go on about him, I merely mentioned that Abramovic wants him to manage Chelsea and that Rafa is an interim manager only. This is common knowledge. It seems to offend you though, not sure why.

Since Guardiola has never coached outside of Spain I don't see it as a failing that he's never won an EPL title. Dunno if he'll ever go to Chelski, I wouldn't if I was him.

Anyway, all this talk of Chelsea reminds of that short-lived poster Chelsea who only logged in to agree with whatever you were saying, I wonder if we'll ever see him on PRE again.

FIFA deny Chelsea request to bring in Drogba on loan (similar to Donovan’s stints @ Everton in US off season) in Chinese off season.

agree, especially the Michael Owen bit.

Livers is talking nonsense.

Really dissapointed we are onto yet another manager. Earlier this season we were playing some of the most exciting football in years. The Russian just has no patience.

Totally agree with you about Torres...

Not talking nonsense at all.
Why else would Roman, out of all the managers out there, get a manager in that is hated by Chelsea fans?

If Roman thought Rafa was the man, he would have got him much earlier than now....especially after AVB was sacked and Rafa was not employed.
Even before AVB, he could have got Rafa.
Nothing eventuated until now.

Roman thought Di Matteo would be the one to inspire Torres (and Chelsea)...and that hasn't happened either this season, especially in Europe.

All of a sudden, Rafa is the man....c'mon, get real...he's purely been brought in as a stop-gap to try and get Torres' (and therefore, Chelsea's) season back on track again.
Its Torres' last chance. Its a 50-million quid investment. Roman wants a return. Rafa is still free. No other manager has been able to get Torres going. Torres produced his best form under Rafa.
You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to see why Rafa was all of a sudden chosen.

It will be interesting to see how things go though as Rafa has an infamous reputation to wanting full control of the team and transfers and has had heated arguments which have more or less cost him his jobs at Valencia, Liverpool, and Inter.
Now he is at probably the worst club when it comes to managers wanting control.

So many words, so little sense.

And what doesn't make sense about it?

You reckon he hasn't won the Prem League so he's not that fantastic........you disagree that he's been brought in in an attempt to save the Torres investment.....it can't be because he is available as he was available before Villa-Boas and Di Matteo.....its not because of the fans as the majority of Chelsea fans do not want him.

Off you go...give us your best shot...no idea? Didn't think so ;D

If you put a challenge out, at least give the respondent a chance to post. But then that probably makes sense in the crazzzzzy world of Liverpool.

Actually the only reason I mentioned Rafa's lack of EPL titles was someone saying "Oh Chelsea will probably win the title now". Rafa doesn't have that sort of form, pure and simple. You've now decided to make a federal case out it.

And yet you agree that Torres is finished. What a chump.
