English Premier League threads [Merged]

Good win by Oldham even though Liverpool had more of the ball. Even the Bees had a good game with Chelski but I doubt they'd win at Stamford Bridge.

It was a sensational win by Oldham and deservedly so.

I don't think Rodgers has got a starting-11 or starting formation right all season and against Oldham it was no different.

Also the players have to take some responsibility and to bring Gerrard on, who is in his 30s, and be the best player on the pitch shows you the ineptness in the attitude and performances of the other players.

The jury is still out on Rodgers....we are out of both domestic cups, haven't beaten a team above us all season in the league, and the owners won't sack him....but it does show you how harsh they were on the King, who won us a League Cup, got us to the final of the FA Cup, and his league position is not much different to Rodgers.

Will be interesting to see how Liverpool go against Melbourne Victory in June :P

The Palace Pele Wilf Zaha's tfr to Man Utd has been signed off.

Win/Win all round it seems. Palace get 15 Million Pounds & vitally get to keep our star for the rest of the season as we seek promotion.

Man Utd get a 20 y.o young star who is good enough play for the full England team against Brazil next month & will push Nani & Co out of the team immediately.

For leysy it is a shame that English football demands we had to lose a player that has been nurtured at the club since he was 12, & if a lesser Palace prodigy in Victor Moses can go onto play very good football at Chelsea then Zaha will make the 15 Mil look like chicken feed as he's a million miles better prospect. Another plus is we get a very nice percentage of any sell on fee as well which could potentially be massive.

Onwards & upwards though, we should invest the money wisely & hopefully he leads back to the big time come end of season.

Gee, both Liverpool and Chelsea blow 2-0 leads :-X

Haven't watched the Liverpool game yet so can't comment on best/worst players, tactics, etc....but Rodgers having a bit of a difficult time with player relationships at present, especially with Skrtel.
Was dropped to the bench in favour of Carra.

Signed Coutinho from Inter at last but another young player with "potential" and slight in build as well.
It will be interesting to see how he goes as he has only shown some bits of pieces while at Inter but apparently did o.k when on loan in Spain.

Chelsea...Chelsea...haven't seen this game either but results like this won't be doing Rafa any favours.
With Pep going to Bayern...who will be the next manager there?

Benitez (or FSW as they all call him) is gone no matter what happens.

Don't care, as long as they don't stray far from turmoil until the replay :fing32

Everton have a limited squad and limited cash but sit 5 points behind 3rd place Chelsea and 6 points ahead of 7th place Liverpool after 24 games.

Champions League spot is not out of the question, we are a very hard team to beat. Too many draws this season.

very lucky today to win could of easily been a loss or draw

we everton are alot like richmond we dominate a game then go on the backfoot for 10 - 20 mins and end up drawing so yes the draws will hurt us but in saying this we have only lost 3 games so far and last 4 seasons or so we have finished strong

Don't think we were any chance of losing this morning, i thought we were the better team, lucky on the penalty but will take it, Osman shooting over from 2m out when it should of been a simple tap in.
Just don't get me started on the balls up from Heitinga, a simple clearance of the line turns into a simple tap in for west brom.

Got Villa this weekend before trying to do the double on Man U the following week.

Cracking goal by Gareth Bale this morning. Half pitch run and a top shelf finish. He really is in the best five players in the world.

Loving what Levy has done over the transfer window. Bringing in Zeki Fryers and Lewis Holtby for under 5 million pounds. Holtby looked all class in his debut last night. Signing a 23 year old German international for 1.5 million is good business. Same with Fryers who has played a lot of international football for England at the lower age groups and was highly thought of by Alex Ferguson as he came through the Man United ranks.

Along with the class youngsters (Alex Pritchard, Tom Caroll, Shaquille Coulthirst Iago Falque) coming via the Next Gen system the Spurs should open up a window to stay in the top four and compete with the best in Europe.

Who knows what Levy might do on the final day of the transfer window.

It certainly wasn't me.

I think the only Chelsea fan who believed it possible was Roman.
Or at the very least he saw it is the cure to the Torres problem.

I still don't get why the Chelsea fans hate Rafa so much when it wasn't him who sacked Di Matteo and gave himself the job....the fans are aiming their ire at the wrong bloke.
But I guess the bloke who is to blame is also the one bankrolling the club, so.... :-X

Typical of Arsenal this year let in two woeful goals. Really soft, although Henderson's was a great effort - albiet against abjet defending. Gunners afer drawing even should have one - The big G missing two point blank in the box in the last 10 minsm the second one a gimme from 2 yards out. :-[

I think not, twas someone else and then Liverpool chimed in with how great a manager Benitez is and how he'd resurrect Torres career, how I laughed.

Reminded me of when Livers claimed that Benitez was a much better manager than Fergie ... ah the memories...

Edit ... oh here it is, ThePercies.

Actually, I said that Rafa was brought in by Roman as an attempt to resurrect his £50-mill investment.

but then, you're not one for letting facts get in the way of a good Liverpool bashing ::)

so carry on...

Maybe. It's a good question, who would be the top 10 be?

Ahhh deserves a thread of its own I reckon ;D
Good discussion though. Bale I would call explosive and exciting, not sure sure if the output is consistently there to be considered in the very top bracket though.

It's also annoying that ESPN in no longer showing La Liga games this season, makes it harded to judge the form of all the stars playing in the league.
Messi and Ronaldo are obviously shoe ins. I would then add RVP (hate him for leaving but gee what form he has been in for almost 2 seasons now) and Ibra (wanker but unreal skills for a man his size). Suarez (cheating scum but what a talent) is in red hot form, Iniesta has to be up there, Fabregas probably has the best final ball in the game. Ozil is pretty special.

We can't forget about defenders too, Philipp Lahm captains Bayern and Germany and I believe is still generally considered the best Right Back in the world. Then you have Kompany, Hummels, Chiellini, Thiago Silva, Ramos, Pepe. If doing a top ten you would have to try and squeeze a goalie in there too I reckon.

Just some names of the top of my head, could be a long discussion :D

Don't forget Cavani, Falcao, or Xavi...I would choose any of these 3 over Ibrahimovic
