Before everyone rolls their eyes and says "not again", one thing that has impressed me about him in recent times is his ability to kick 3 and 4 goals when he is playing ordinary.

Today I thought he was relatively contained, yet at the game's end had 5 goals (!) :headscratch

Expectations are high for Buddy.

What's he to do to play a good game??
Most forwards would think they'd had a day out with 5 goals under their belt, but Buddy gets marked pretty hard for a 21yr old.

That is part of my point - even when he appears apparently "well held" he still kicks three (or 5!). It is a positive.

No argument here.

Even from our own supporters, like last week for example, kicks 4 but still only talked about as an average game for him. But I guess it's his ability that's brought the expectation on. When he's up and firing he's unstoppable. No player like him in the comp.

Him and Roughead are a very potent young duo though. Buddy gets alot of the limelight but Roughead's tackling, pressure and ability to do the team things is almost as important to the team as Franklin's goals.

Even according to the stats he was only 15 best on the park.

Yeah agree Wozza.

I now one thing for sure, Terry will not be able to sleep at night, especially when he has justified his reasoning behind not selecting Franklin. He is a silly man Terry, telling supporters his thoughts.

Why didn't we draft Buddy ahead of Tambling?
It's not even a laughing matter any more.
I've watched this bloke since he came into the system. He was supposed to be the best kid "below the knees" in years . All i see now is a kid totally void of confidence. He can't "one grab' anything that comes near him. but what do you do/ It's confidence. I don't know how he's gonna get it with the crap around him. If he was a a Geelong or West coast he'd be a star, but he's not.
sorry but richie is going to become part of the typical "coodabeen" brigade at the tiges

Because Ol Hammerhead Miller didnt like Franklins "attitude".
Miller should have been sacked for this :police: dumb decision not to draft Franklin.

And on a good day he'll kick 8-9 goals. In todays football that is nearly unheard of a player doing that. The kids ability is freakish.
Same time I think Roughead is coming along nicely, seems to always chip in with 2 goals per game and has a decent pair of hands on him.

We *smile*ed up and picked the wrong player.

Plain and simple.

I know mate, us supporters need to move on and not dwell in the past, we'll leave it up to our beloved football club http://www.richmondfc.com.au/tabid/6301/Default.aspx?newsid=57359

Can imagine Franklin and Richo in the same fwd line.Wouldnt work and we,d be saying why did we take Franklin over Tambling

If Richardson was 23 rather than 33 that might well have been the case. The fact is that if Franklin was at Richmond now and the forward line was conflicted, there would be a deafening chorus that Richardson be moved out of his way up the field or if that didn't work forcibly retired. The last thing we would or should worry about is who can work with Richardson and who can't. The Richardson era is almost over, I only wish we had a Franklin to make the transition.

Don't know if we could afford both.

We didn't pick the wrong player but Buddy has no doubt turned out to be the better player.

Early days people. Buddy looks a lot like a young Richo...lets wait and see if he manages over a decade in the game and over 700 goals.
