Experienced vs young coach?

Do we ruin coaches careers or do we just pick the wrong coaches ?
Ruin coaches careers because we've never had the infrastructure or systems to support the coaches since Tommy was a lad.

as i've said elsewhere i think our younger brigade has a lot of promise...

hopefully this can attract a quality coach. & i would suggest we go after a quality new, young coach. someone who's currently not at the tiges

Young or old, I don't care. I'm like many others here. Who knows which coach would be best for us at this stage. My major concern is that we only sign them for 2-3 years max. Really worried to hear that rumour that Malthouse may have been offered 4 years. Please lets not make the same mistake by offering another long term coaching contract.

I think thats the most important point, the coach must have a plan, everbody in the club must stick to it and recruit the players required for the plan to come to fruition. Not like Wallets who has chopped and changed his plan based on the top team of the previous year, he is already a season behind the other clubs, plus his recruiting has been undiscliplined. We need disclipline in all aspects of the club.

Give Wallace some credit, his plan is at least original. Who else plays like we do?

It doesnt matter provided he is willing to take an axe to this list and start from scratch.

The one thing I could not live with is half-way, quick fix solutions.

Using the Pelchen analysis on the other thread it is pretty easy to see where we are, and who needs to be upgraded. Its not rocket science - it is actually basic stuff that a kid could do. Which of course makes it more frustrating that we cant manage it. All it requires is patience and balls.

Definitely ruin coaches careers. And I think the supporter base helps with that too. We're so starved of success, we put too much pressure on the club when we're losing and heap too much praise when we're winning. It turns our coaches into politicians who can't see past the next election. Our coaches can't see past the next contract extention and don't put in the plans that will reap rewards beyond the expiration date of their contract. Just look at Hawthorn. Their supporters weren't delivering manure to the club when they lost. They never felt the need to recruit older experienced players to top up their list and deliver their fans some short term success. They just rode the cycle, backed the club's youth plans and knew that success would be around the corner. It gave Clarkson the confidence to do what was necessary without looking behind his back for the president with the knife. Our club never affords its coaches that luxury.

Wallace was essentially given carte blanche, how exactly did WE ruin his career? As for supporter pressure meh see the other thread about whether the fans are to blame.
