It's my solemn duty to report our favourite umpire, Darren Goldspink, is out of contention for the opening of the season. He failed the umpire's minimum fitness requirements and faces a challenge to prove he can clock the 16 kilometres required per match in order to resume his career .  What a shame.

He'll be considered again when his fitness is up to scratch. Don't rush things Goldy. :hihi

I wonder if Richo will send him some training pointers? Or perhaps he will just point out how critical Goldspink's next attempt will be.

I'm probably about to get lynched, but I've never really had a big problem with Goldspink's umpiring.

IMHO, McLaren was the ultimate Tiger hater last year, and for that matter, the year before!!!

Nah you don't deserve lynching hopper. You need pity for not minding 19 men on the field when Gopldy umpires our games. ;D

I reckon if Tiger fans' were surveyed about their most disliked umpire over the last 10 years or so he'd win by the length of the Flemington straight...nah, that's not far enough, make that the length of the Melbourne Cup.

So we wont have to put up with Goldspink on Sunday, what luck with same happening with McLaren.

Don't Umpires also have access to that funny white powder that makes you run around the footy field like the Energiser Bunny all day?

It seems to work well for other people who grace the AFL, so why should the umps miss out?

agree that Mclaren is the worst of anti-Richmond, biased, blind, cheating, snivelling, egotistical, white maggoted/multicoloured vomit that slimes its way onto the paddock every week against the Tiges.

He won't be missed. Hopefully his career is over and his presence never dis'graces' the football field again.

me too I thought he went ok as his record for that doing 5-6 Grand Finals.

The infamous CrannyPete on SEN "Now that Goldspink has gone down with a long term injury, do Essendon get to elevate a rookie"? :hihi
