Family Day [Merged]

went along as we only live a few streets away... altho i must say i did prefer it when it was a punt road as that is sooo much easier for the non eastern suburbs tigers to get too....

but whilst the weather was looking rather average in the morn, it did clear up to be a good day. A really good turn out i think. Only thing i thought was a wee bit tacky is this Matrix tent where the boys got their hair done...... i was not prepared to queue up for half and hour to get my mans hair done......... a bit TOO metro i thinks.....

all round a good day and hopefully a few more members signed up.

a great day it was at the family day!

got a great new rfc cheer squad t-shirt for $30 and a rfc cap for a gold coin donation, bargain! lots of people there on the day with plenty of chances for signings and photos etc and to mingle with the boyz and have photos with Stripes etc.......... there was a big turnout too which was great to see!

im 34 and I dont have kids and I thought it was a worthwhile day going to. i cannot understand why people would bag the rfc family day? if its not your thing, then dont go, but I would suggest that at least a couple of thousand people did go at the very minumum, making it the biggest supporters day for the year for the club, which can only be a good thing for rfc. personally i preferred the training day at punt road just before xmas myself but no parking at punt road is a bit of a sticking point for me, but the family day was really good too.

we didnt park in the carparks, just parked in the street near jells park and then walked into the park ( about 10 minutes walk )

Maybe we can set up a PRE stand at next year's RFC Family Day? ;)

With PRE's panel of notables passing comment. :D

Went to family day yesterday, had a great time. My two girls have proudly taken their signed caps and photos to school today for show and tell. :)

Same idea as my girls. They are so excited to tell the class what passionate Tiger supporters they are. In answer to a question earlier about it being surprising that so many kids are following the tigers, it is all in how early we recruit them. For me, I had to grow three kids of my own to brainwash and now they know no different. Football is one area where as parents we have to be firm. If given a choice, god knows who they would have ended up with. :hihi

Bye the way, Family day was fantastic. My kids had a ball. We go every year and it it keeps getting better.

Tips for new players-

-Get there early (easy parking, less waiting in queues).
-Park in Jells Park Car Park (short walk, free and was still spaces yesterday at midday).
-Take blanket and picnic hamper with bottle of wine.
-Get autographs, photos and jumping castle done before lying on a blanket listenning to music and then watching the jumper presentation.

Well done to RFC. For what it is, the Family Day was a great success. :clap

Or Darksiders sitting there criticising the day, the players, the coach, the club and the weather. :hihi

Took my eldest daughter along, who is now fully indoctrinated. She had a ball, number 2 daughter had birthday parties to attend, so It was jsut me & #1 daughter for the day.

She got 28 autographs, mainly from lower profile players, and new recruits, as the queues were shorter. She also now has a favorite player, Jake King, because he lifted her up for a photo, (she's 6), and her second favorite is Angus Graham, cos she sat on his knee for a photo.

All the players we spoke to were polite, and easy to deal with, which given what they put up with is a miracle. Joel Bowden was surrounded, with a nuffy continually hassling him, but he laughed it off and continued to sign. For those interested Paddy may be playing at Balwyn next year.

All in all a great day, but had to face the music from #2 daughter when we got home.

:clap Grrrrreat Family Day. Well done to the RFC and a special thanks to Matthew Richardson who rushed in from Daffy's wedding (in Tassi I think). He then had the biggest cheer for the jumper presentation and unselfishly signed autographs for over an hour at the AFG tent. The only downer was a rude Tiger supporter not helping out a lady who's husband was on crutches. She politely asked whether he could get the Tiger History book signed by Richo for her hubby, to which he replied "I've got too many items to be signed myself." Nevertheless, my wife who was in front of him, offered to get the book signed. The lady, who was grateful, offered a token amount of money ($4), to buy the children some ice-cream. My wife declined but the lady insisted and shoved my boys $2 each, who subsequently looked like they'd won the lottery. Overall a fantastic day.

i have some pics from the family day that i will post when i get a chance...hopefully tomorrow or tonight. :)

The golf car park was maned early by a couple of R F C workers ( so Richmond could get a cut of the money , which is good ) .
I was one of the oldest person out there , but loved the day .
Had a small comp with the wife which was the most popular number on the kids jumper, 12, 5, 11, and only a few with 7 and no number was the most popular .
I had to drive from the north of Melb and did not mind it at all .
If you was up near the games or rides early about 11 to 12 oclock , most of the players were there and yes signed any thing you asked them to .
And yes i had the tranny on S E N and heard all the sooks , and one person was on at 12 sooking about he had to pay for this and that with 3 boys , but you cannot wet nurse every one all the time . If you used your brain the hole day would cost you very little and still come home with photos and signed jumpers .
