Fans Training Night

Good to hear about the game plan and skills. Evertime Wallace talks about the RFC and the players he gives Frawley a whack at the same time!

I was in the Board Room last night while training was on for the Presidents Club. At the start of the training TW had all new players in there and introduced everyone to them and spoke for 5 minutes on each player. Every player looked so impressive and really eager to get out there and show us all how good they are.

After that, the players left and started training and TW and SW presented us with a video on every new player to the club. I have never seen anyone so excited about seeing that video more than TW, he has probably seen the video about 100 times and he was almost watering at the mouth!!!

Can you give us any more detail on what the video entailed Gargomel?

Can anyone tell me who was wearing no 9 in yellow
36 in white & 42.
No 44 Rix trained the house down. I am most surprised he
wasnt rookied.

Well, luttino fresh pasta, 36 was definitely young Will Thursfield and 42 was Rob Young. As for 9 I can't recall who was in that number....but I recognised them all so what did he look like ?

The video was approx 5 minutes on each player, stats, height, weight and footage of them from 2004. The video was used by the coaches when selecting them before the draft or PSD.

When speaking about the players, TW said that they had the top 6 rookie players training with them the past 2 weeks, and they chose Will because he was the best out of all of them, inlcuding Kirkby!!

He also said that he has thrown the challenge to Limbach, telling him he needs to out on 13kg in the next 12 months.

He loves Polo, the way he plays, gets the job done, work horse, he really wants him playing next year.

He was so sad the morning of Draft day, he saw Tambling and said hello, then walked away almost crying on Royal's shoulder telling him that he wished he could get him as well.

Deledio is a young Hird, Buckley, he just glides along the ground, looks like he has all the time in the world, pure class.

Meyer will be awesome, needs to put on about 8-10kg, classy skills, the best at the club, and very fast, knows where the goals are.

Likewise, are you able to remember any of the comments about each player that Wallace made?

I totally agree with you DMX , Gilmour was really impressive and he has stacked it on and will be great to watch when he makes his debut. Bling was also someone l couldn't take me eyes off, just very silky skills and the pace!

.........9 was McGuane. He was running laps and in the re-hab group. Skinny blonde kid.

Depends whether you're talking the short or long term.

Looking at Tambling last night I think that he will become his own style of player. Looks a bit different from anything I've seen before. Pace, good running height. Very good initial acceleration. I'd like to see how good he actually is overhead. If so, may be a centre.

Meyer's assets are his pace & goalkicking. Can't see him playing too far away from goals. If he has endurance he could be a good rover.

Polo, definitely a tall RR/HBF.

Deledio, still reminds me of a young Bruce Monteath. Hope he develops the same kicking style.

Time will tell with all these players.

Was most impressed with the Fan's Training Night. Makes you wonder what sort of turnout we would get if we were in the finals.
There were 2 excited younguns showing off their autographed jumpers at "show and tell" today I heard.

Surely a fans training night can be organised once a month during the offseason. A great money raising opportunity.

Yes. Discussed it with someone close to the mktg dept this morning.
Feedback was that 4-7pm is an unusual time to get the players to train. They usually do it in the morning. As summer get's hotter it will be near impossible to get the players to train with the same intensity that late in the afternoon.

Imagine them doing what they did last night in 30+ degree heat.

Doesn't close all opportunities. There still has to be some type opportunity available.

LOL, you have heard of the twilights at the zoo, then lets muscle in on it with twilights at the "real" zoo.

When the money comes in, I reckon they should renovate the Jack Dyer stand, change those wooden seats at ground level
and open up a bit more pathway for people to move from the MCG side to the Punt Road side.

yes, and pave the pathway in bricks coloured yellow and black and as you walk in you listen to the yellow and black brick road, LOL

It is about bloody time we had something concrete to look forward to.
Last night was organised to a "T".

The professionalism of Terry Wallace and co puts further shame on the inept, indecisive and unable recent past.

If we are not heading in the right direction then wind the club up now because we never will.

The enthusiasm of our youngsters and their pace and skills  puts us in great stead in the next few years.
Put that together with the discipline and football brain of one Terry Wallace and the sleeping giant is approaching its wake up time.
Beware the sleeping Tiger!!!!!!!!!!

I think servicing the debt and its monster interest rate Clinton has kindly encumbered us with will take precedent over any pathways Forcepts.
