Feelings about next season?

I just hope they can all go to Rebel Sport and purchase some heavy weights, I'm sick of tired seeing our boys being skinny runts and being pushed off the ball.

Its not the weights that are the problem, just the body types of the players.

Look at Bling last feb, he was a tank, then he lost it??

Bling was a tank in Feb. :-\

On a personal note, I think I need to make an appointment to the optomitrist.

is there someone who can surgically implant some optimism as well?

Do you have a problem swallowing the truth?

Just wondering what the gut feelings are in relation to next season. Do people think this year was an aberration and we'll improve markedly next year? Do you think we performed to our standard and we can't expect to rise much off the bottom next year?

Not speculating about trades, delistings and drafts I can't help but think this year was just a season from hell. Despite what Terry has said about us being on track etc I can't help but feel such a dismal performance probably took him by surprise as much as it did me.

Admittedly we'll need better luck with injuries. We say that every year but it will always be a concern until our kids develop enough to do more than just make up the numbers. I feel we're heading in that direction.

I can see improvement coming from several players who we know can give a lot more than they did this year. My main source of excitement is getting Cogs back in the midfield. Simmo being fit and available each week would be a massive plus. Browny's leg injury will hopefully be a distant memory for him next year and he'll return to top form.

I just don’t have it in me to think this season was a true indication of our position in the scheme of things and some good drafting, a fair draw from the AFL and the kids continued improvement should have us up around the 8.

I expect no less and will be bitterly disappointed if we are cellar dwellers again.

How do others see things panning out at this stage?

We need to bottom out again next year. It's a bumper draft apparently and picks 1 & 3 will be worth gold from what i hear.

The Tigers will ass 6 - 8 wins and miss out on on their chance to grab future stars in, Hurley Naitanui and Yarran, Trengove etc and then finish bottom 2 in 09 just to *smile* me off. :P :P

Finishing last has merit next year sadly.

Would rather they spent more time with skill work. The boys will get bigger as the fill out any way.

I foresee good things Rosy, but then as a Tigers supporter I'm an eternal optimist (read committed masochist if you like). Many good signs and a few that needed a bit of lateral thinking to see (Moore will be a regular senior player though it might take another year)

I hope we recruit Bo Peep over the summer because shepherding is still a mystery to many or our players.

I categorically refute those who drag out the old "we don't have the cattle" argument so lets bottom out again - as though we meant to this year!!! If the system is right, the instructions are clear and this group is galvanised to play for one another - a la Geelong/Kangaroos - then anything is possible.

you make some very good points and i agree with most of it.

the only thing i disagree with is recruiting 3 players from coburg.
this seems to go directly against point number 3".The best players available taken with picks 2, 18 & 19."
it should be the best available player always,or the best player available for a certain position you are lacking in (key backmen/ruckmen).not a sentimental pick just because someone plays for coburg IMO.

With respect, I try never to be sentimental about anything Richmond.

The Coburg players sought would be based on the needs of the list.

we are looking at finals in 2008 - go tiges

We will be looking at them on the TV as usual. Can't see any differences between this year and last. Extremely poor skills and a forward structure and inside 50 delivery that would give an emo kid enough self destructive ammunition for a lifetime. Bottom 4 again. Athletes that play football versus Good footballers is a no brainer.

their is no one at coburg that we need

sylvester is too slow and the others are just like for like of what we already have

Rosy being the optomise Tiger Ive allways had hope and could see the direction we are heading .
But I can't see us going anywhere next year. This does concern me because i think we have a good coach and if things don't work
out he could go.I no he has made mistakes but someone had to eventually rebuild this list and at least he had the balls to do that.
I'm worried about where the improvement is coming from and i want to see more passion from our players besides richo.

Bottom eight. Probably bottom four.

I disagree we are close to the Saints. St Kilda might be the big improvevers if they can get their act together off field. Could do a Geelong quite easily.

Wasn't thinking about Silvester.

Thought Neville might be a good prospect.

Also, since there seems to be a dearth of tall defenders in this year's draft pool, maybe ex-Calder defender Sam Robertson, 195/6cm & Coburg Reserves captain, might be worth looking at as a project.

As well, I liked the Coburg midfielders for their skills & endeavour.
Especially liked the young rovers - Carnell, Horne et al.
There might be a couple of vacancies in the less than 179cm sub-list come the end of the de-listing period.
Why look to WA's Ellard or Leslie if we may have the equal, if not better, already here at Coburg?
