I am absolutely fed up responding to idiotic PRE fan posts about the Fervola monster. The thought of the guy coming to Richmond makes my stomach turn. However I have said enough about the yob so its self-imposed ban time. :-X

Lets talk about something which is interesting and which actually might be worth losing a draft pick and as many of our fringe players as Adelaide can stomach. 20 years old, first round draft pick 196 cm Fergus Watts. He is described as a solidly built key position player who wants his mommy. The good news is that his mommy lives in Victoria - bad news for Adelaide good news for all the Melbourne based teams particularly those who desparately lack key position players - thats right like Richmond!

Its reported that he has quit Adelaide so let the frenzy commence. What do those who actually have some footy nouse think he is worth? Adelaide seem pretty cut up which is always a good sign and the thought of losing him to the draft for free should put the pressure on them to deal. As a bonus in recent memory we gave them Torney so for a change Adelaide is one club that hasn't been burnt by taking a dud off our hands.

At 196cm he is the same height as Simmons and Hall. Hmm I wonder if they would like Ray in exchange. In saying this, I am assuming that Fergus might actually have some speed and manouverability which is a big assumption because I don't actually know.

I know you want to talk about something different Brett but you raised Fev's name here yet again.

Why are they idiotic?  Just because you don't agree?  It takes a lot for a trade to go through but if the I's and T's can be dotted and crossed  expect Fev to be a Tiger next year.   ;)

There's a two page thread on Fergus Watts at this link.

Key position prospect Fergus Watts has informed Adelaide that he wishes to return home to Victoria after two years with the club.

The Crows had high hopes for the solidly built, 197-centimetre Wesley College product when they drafted him with pick number 14 overall in the 2003 NAB AFL Draft, but he played just five games in his time at the club.

An All-Australian centre half-forward in junior ranks, Watts was seen as the long-term replacement for Mark Stevens, but informed the club of his decision to return home late on Thursday.

In a media statement released by the club Watts said, "the Adelaide Football Club has been very good to me and I have enjoyed my learning experience at the club and with the players. However I feel Melbourne would serve me best in both my private and football life.

"It has not been an easy decision. The club and the players have put immense pressure on me to stay, but I believe the decision is in my best interest and I hope that decision is respected."

The club is in danger of losing the former first round pick without compensation if it cannot work a suitable trade with a Melbourne club - as an uncontracted player, Watts can nominate for the pre-season draft in which Victorian clubs have the first five picks.

Crows general manager of football operations John Reid stated that "lengthy discussions with the coach, players and management were unable to change Fergus’s mind. It is definitely not related to contractual matters as Fergus was offered a healthy contract to stay.

"As disappointed as we are we respect Fergus’s position in the matter. The club will make all endeavors to procure a replacement player or a high draft pick for Fergus’s transfer."

As Phantom had it on the other post a deal may go like this.

Adelaide > Motlop

Kangas > Krakouer

Richmond > Watts

It almost makes sense!!!

Is the same Watts that kicked 10:2 in the SANFL second semi on the weekend for Woodville West Torrens?

if we give Krakouer for Watts we are losing big time.

Krak is an established player.

Watts may have been draft pick 14 or whatever - but he is struggling to get a game in a pretty average forward line.

Kangas would be even more ripped off losing Motlop.

If tigers are to get anywhere we need to be gaining out of trades - not losing

Would be a real gamble

I like Krak as a player but I think much of his appeal has to do with his so called potential. When he gets the ball he is for the most part very very good. However he is what 23/24, 75 odd games and should be at or near the peak of his game. And yet he just doesn't seem to get him self to enough contests.

I think in a stronger team he is likely to perform better and maybe at the Kangaroos he will produce more consistently.

On the face of it Watts to us for Krak looks OK, how has this guy gone through 05 in the SANFL?

*smile* - Adelaide
Watts - Geelong
Bartels - Richmond

Pretty good deal, but I think Schulz is on the verge of becoming a top flight player at either CHB/CHF.

We know how good Bartells is but we don't know how good Schulz is going to become.

Great trade if we can pull it off.Have my doubts considering Norths struggle money wise considering they are chasing Hay who would be on roughly the same money as krak.Unless of coare we do a "daffy/bourke" and pay in part some of krak,s contract for the remainder of the contract.
Or do we trade our #8 for Watts and Trade krak with a seperate deal thats wont involve us paying part of his contract?
People will say no to giving away pick 8 because it may land us a KPP with pick 8.However isnt Watts exactly what we will be getting at pick 8 anyway? The bonus is Watts will be ready for the AFL.

if we could get Bartel for *smile* we would throw a party

Bartel would be our ticket to the finals next year

it is highly unlikely

I hope you're just winding up those of us who are mortified at the idea of Fevola coming to RFC Rosy!

Looked at the 2 page listing in the rumour file. He would be an excellent prospect who would peak with our other youngsters. We are going to have to do some scrambling to get him. Gosh it would be worth our while though. The guy hasn't even really begun his career yet.

As for Fev Rosy :-X :-X :-X "Monster" "gngngn" :-X :-X :-X
