PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing, but what could have been had we managed to sign up Brendan Fevola in 2006?

We supposedly could not fit him into our salary cap so that is why we passed him up.
Otherwise it was a done deal.

Coleman medallist in a wooden spoon side last year, match winner, All Australian and one of if not the best kick for goal in the league.

I bring the topic up not just because he won the game for the scum against us and the bummers, but this.

A client of mine (Alan) flys the scums flag in his front yard in Hampton when they win.
He arrived home late Sat night after having been to the game and to another function and was planning to raise the flag the next morning.
That Sunday morning at 9:00 am his doorbell rang and it was Fev himself asking why the flag had not been raised?
Alan was stunned and invited him in for a coffee and explained why he had'nt put the flag up yet.
(The whole story featured in Sunday's Age)

Fevola came across as not only a top bloke but a true clubman who would give his left one for his club.
It certainly shows on the field.
Apart from Richo/Cogs who do we have that shows that sort of passion and committment for Richmond?

While I don't know how much room we needed in the salary cap to fit him in this was a massive one that got away.
We all know there are a number of players in our team who are overpaid, why o why Terry and Greg did you not move heaven and earth to get him to Punt road?

Looking at just this years games, had Fevola played for us I have no doubt we would be 2-1 if not 3-0, not 0-3. And we probably would have played Finals last year.
