Finals Fever/Who Will Win The Flag?

Same for me - anyone except St Kilda. Let those losers continue to underachieve for years to come. There is nothing funnier than watching them hang onto their one & only flag - which they only won by a point! If they miss this year, they may miss their opportunity. :hihi >:D

Not too fussed so long as the Swans don't make the GF.

Don't mind them being 'perennial finalists' but September 1996 was torture up here & something that ought not to be repeated in a hurry, let alone outdone. The biased nature of the media coverage would make Eddie & co look like the BBC World Service in comparison...

I'd love to see the Swans win because:
they've waited the longest since their last flag (1933);
my grandmother has supported them all her life. She turns 93 in October and she'd love to see another flag in her lifetime.

Having said that, I'm not sure if they will win. However there are a few injury concerns at St Kilda.

Not the Eagles or Crows, they've won enough flags in the last few years.

Would love to see the saints win, and with the arsenal they have, it should be a formality. They'll make mince meat of Sydney, then win a tough gf against the crows.

The last Premiership of this ilk, 1997 was won by Adelaide.

The prelims look likely wins to Adelaide* (largely unstructured but too good fror skinny WCE last time) and Sydney over a depleted Saints.

May the better team win in an even (read weak) year.

* a primitive model, for mine.

I'm supporting the Saints now all the way. Their supporters have suffered for a long time, and those who have stuck by deserve a flag.
Is there a player in the AFL who more deserves a flag than Robert Harvey? If so, I can't think of him.

Greg Tivendale?

Would like to see the Swannies win for long suffering cousins.

From a RFC perspective, if the saints won would that hasten the break up of their list and allow the vultures to swoop ?

That didn't happen with Brisbane and will not happen with St Kilda - you might get Gehrig and Harvey retiring though.

Would like to see the Swannies take the flag but think it will be the Crows - I can feel it in me waters.

Saints really dont have the same club culture as Brisbane, and if Goddard moves on would that be the first of many ?

Mmmm ... they seem like a pretty tight unit to me... they certainly make a big deal over staying together and have re-signed a few of their big name players this year from memory. I don't like Thomas but he appears to have turned that club's culture around big-time.

I don't think they would be too worried if Goddard left. Time will tell however Darth - I have been wrong before.

Antman - I'm not so sure the loyalty factor applies to the saints if a 2005 premiership were to eventuate.  They will have some significant salary cap pressure in the next 2 years.  They will have some retirements and do not have the veterans list to half some contracts.

The 2005 saints would be like the Bummers circa 2002 when they will have to trade/delist some 2nd tier players, and we have seen where that has taken the bummers.

They will certainly have salary cap pressure and do not have the salary cap concessions that Brisbane had, this is true. How about we let them have this year's flag, then break up the team so they can wait another 40 years for the next one. You've turned me around on this one Darth.

Oops - I better get my waters tested!
