Fitness??

And if we haven't got enough or the right type of equipment, surely these blokes can afford a $600 gym membership close to home.
They have a gym at Punt Road but sounds like alot of the gym equipment collects dust.

Intrestingly in the 06 pre season the boys did heaps of 3 plus hours sessions an this pre season there was very very few over 2 hours .Now dont laugh but there was no doubt the emphasis was on improving skill level an thats why there was lots of short sharp sessions instead of the pure hard grunt stuff

I think the fitness of the team is a major concern as well. I'd like to know how much we have been outscored by in the second half the last 5 weeks. Do the players train during the week, because on the field you'd have to think not.

A fitness issue for full time, extremely well paid, massaged, nutritionalised, physioed and psyched young athletes surrounded by full time professional managers?

GIVE ME A BREAK!

What a pathetic excuse.

Must be cardio-vascular fitness as we have NO HEART!

I remember the sayig from the 70's....No Hart No RIchmond...so very true now!

its not that we are unfit

its that an underskilled side needs to be fitter than the rest of the competition - so at leats they can run out games

we unfortunately are all of the following:

1. softest
2. least skilled
3. undisciplined
4. unacountable
5. least fittest team

thats a recipe for disaster

we may not be able to fix problems 1 & 2 in a hurry, but 3,4 & 5 could all be addressed in 1 list cull and 1 pre season......

Doesn't no. 5 "Least fittest team" = unfit (At least by AFL standards)?

maybe, but what im saying is that the best teams dont have to be the fittest 9some are thats what makes them the best) but the worst team should at least be the fittest and hardest

Glad to see that's paid off.

How long has our current fitness team been at richmond?

Not only are we not cardio vascular fit but we are also very weak! Our players cant stand up in tackles, can break a tackle and can barely hold a tackle. Now for a gym doesnt need a heap of equipment or the latest machines in their. For afl all u need it a bench/power rack, a barbell and 200kg of weight between 3 or 4 players.

Come on... FFS please tell me the RFC has a gym!

KB made an interesting comment on SEN prior to Midday. He stated the Tigers needed an extremely big pre season in the gym.

He would know.....he built such a great team for us back in his day :cutelaugh

Seriously though, these guys need to get with the free weights over the summer
