Hi guys

it appears the rumour of Richmond going interstate 6 times next year is correct

While I appreciate it will have no effect at all - I sent the following message to the AFL through its website

"as if Richmond has not had a poor enough run over the years performance wise - you guys go and stick the knife in further by sending us interstate 6 times - thanks for nothing"

Very ugly draw, I hope we win all the interstate games and stick it right up the AFL. They hate Richmond along with all the Melbourne based teams, we just have to win and that's all the payback the AFL needs.

You can whinge all you like, but that club has had some soft draws handed to them at least twice
in the last five years and what good has that done?
Its about time the duds toughened up and won interstate, instead of their dreadful capitulations!!!

successful clubs whinge and moan to AFL until they get their own way

not just on fixture but also umpiring, tribunal

There were 3000 jumper punches thrown this year - Stafford was the only one suspended

if Sydney did not bring the big guns in for Hall tribunal hearing they would not have won premiership

you need to dot the i's and cross the t's at every level of the club

It's been confirmed we play twice in Perth, once in Bris, Syd, Adel & Tassie against the dawks. The Eagles one week then in Brisbane the next won't be changed. Will find the link for the article and post it on the journo's board if it hasn't already been done.

If the proposed draw does eventuate then it is a very tough one. However, I have to agree with Diggles. RFC needs to toughen up and start winning interstate games instead of getting poleaxed; although our interstate form was much better this year. The interstate teams have no trouble winning in Melbourne.

And the seemingly easier draws in recent years haven't exactly catapulted us into the finals. Geez, we would have struggled to make the finals if we played 22 games at the G against Freo :o

Plain and simple, good teams win anywhere.
If we are to become real contenders we need to stop whingeing, get tough and do what is necessary to get to the top.

HARD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You also have to bear in mind all the interstate supporters actually get a chance to see their beloved Tiges! I for one am rapt to be able to see them beat both the weagles and the shockers at subi in 2006 :hihi
I also think that the players' attitude to this is very important. Do they want to act like victims and succumb or take up the challenge and become winners for it? You must endure the rain to see a rainbow!

How do the interstate matches stack up gate wise? Is it profitable for us? Or do we lose gate receipts by playing 6 out of 22 matches away from our supporter base?

The fixture is a joke. Thats all there is to it. And as usual the pies have less interstate trips than anyone

Oh please!

The nature of football today warrants being tough enough on the road and at home. Don't agree with Diggles as a rule, but on this he is spot on. Rather the boys go interstate than play at Telstra Tomb! Six pi$$y road trips. Compared that to Port, Crows, Freo, Sydney, Weagles - ALL FINALISTS IN 2005. I won't even start on the three premierships won by another interstate club >:(

The AFL don't have certain clubs in the gun? How many Friday night games did RFC get last season? How many did Melbourne get? Why were Melbourne and Richmond fixtured to play at Telstra Dome when both teams home ground is the G? Every club hates their draw, everyone will have something to whinge about for sure, but the AFL does seem to be going out of it's way to punish Richmond for 2004. I don't have a real issue with the interstate games, it's something the club has to learn to do better, but giving us 6 games only 2 year after we got the spoon seems somewhat unfair. As for interstate clubs having to play away regularly, that's their problem, they knew that was the case when they joined the league (the Swans excepted because they were railroaded up to Sydney), it's a bit too late to whinge about that now.

at least the interstate teams get at least 11 home games

we get 7 - plus 4 on neutral ground telstra dome

interstate teams play at telstra dome as much as we do - they love it

Tigers need to fight for a good deal from afl

Swans fought to get Barry Hall off and won premiership
We would have taken a week

The only way to fight this one is to be more competetive and draw the big tiger crowds.

Once we do this consistantly then we will have earnt the right to a better draw!

Irrelevant, you only get Gate Receipts from Home games.

If you want to see the effect on supporters, wait and see how many of our interstate games are on FTA TV next season.

i don't have a problem with playing more interstate games. it will harden us up and will work out better for us financially as we will play the bigger drawing victorian teams for our home games. what i do have a problem with is going to brisbane on a 6 day break after playing in perth. i also have issues with playing another victorian team interstate, even if it is their home game. i remember about 5 years ago we played the roos in sydney in front of about 8,000 people. talk about neglecting football's heartland...
