I know the AFL try and stamp it out but it has been disapointing this year the number of times our young players have been pushed around by the opposition and no one steps in to help. We saw it again on Saturday with the big ape Gehrig trying to smother Moore. Repeatedly senior players stand around watching while rookies are pushed around. King and McGuane have also been in scraps of late and left alone to sort it out (even with our captain within 15 metres on one occasion).

I could understand if it was two 100 gamers going at it. But a 30 year old 200 gamer vs a 20 year old 15 gamer? Come on guys, stick up for each other! Terry, book in the paintball for summer!

You are right, but thats why we are where we are as a team. The senior players are soft in many regards.
With the Gehrig/Moore incident on Saturday, I don't like writing it, but, Thursfield was only 20-25 metres away by himself. He saw what was happening but didn't react. He didn't need to go & lay into Gehrig, but he could have quite easily just pushed him off Gehrig to let Moore get up.
Big fan of Will, but I did notice this. As long as he continues his improvement the way he is I'm happy to wipe it from the memory bank.

Further reasons to support that we are bunch of lovers and not fighters is group of players we had in the past were not mongrels. For example Nick Daffy, was more worried about the coffee bean in his cafe latte and what type of thong he wore, rather than doing a Steven Baker out on the ground. Our biggest and strongest players, Richo & Simmo would rather sit down and argue over a game of Soduko rather than throw their weight around.

I'd rather have them concentrate on footy than being total thugs and embarass the club with such antics on the ground.

No Steven Baker like snipers in our team thanks.

Nope, we couldnt do with him.

Meanwhile, in other breaking news Leigh Montagna becomes the 4,386th quickest opposition midfielder to tear us a new one last weekend.

But no, we wouldnt like a Baker or his like to be able take them out of the game week in weeek out would we?

I'd prefer someone that can do it within the rules and not get himself suspended for a third of a season just when the important stuff is about to start Leysy.

Quite wrongly suspended leysy might add Disco Balls.

ok i agree and i disagree alot of factors involed
1 dosent matter how many games and how old you are your on the footy feild you made the choice to be so therefore could end up in that situation
2 we dont know the full gameplan that team has on i'e mellees, wrestleing , fighting

3 all depenpds on situation if someone got there head chooped of in a tackle im sure there would be more comming to the rescue

so dont blame players blame the afl if anyone for changing rules

Why do people think Moore's a baby. Let him fight his battles if he wants to prove he's deserving of a Richmond jumper. My concern is not "flying the flag" but where our next Gehrig will come from who stands over and intimidates people. Hopefully Connors can keep that in his game as he develops I suppose.

haha Leysy, really? I didn't see it. If that's the case I take it all back.

As long as no one suggests we get Der Headcase to help us fly the flag.

I think you'll find Connors, Jackson and King will be intimidating a few players in the years to come. You are correct in that we need the 190cm+ gorilla (someone like David Cloke would be nice) who will be the icing on the cake.

Sir Les seems to like a little argy bargy. Could be menacing with a bit more meat on his bones too.

They'd wanna be able to kick better than Clokey though. ;D

LOL yours and Disco's posts paint a scary picture... Could Patto be the next Cloke (they certainly have kicking in common) :rofl

That was my thought too Hopper.
Moore's 23 and a defender.

He's no kid and this is still a man's game.

I thought it looked pathetic.

lol. Surely Sir Les can work hard enough to become a better kick than old David. Right? Right?

Thats just it Disco, no-one did so how can he be rubbed out.
Though it seems Baker's own evidence the club told him to give got him convicted.

Leysy'll 2nd the no Headcase at tigers movement. Cant stand him.

No never liked cheats playing against me or against my club. Baker is an example of what footy is not.
