Foley injury/doubt [Merged]

If Axe isn't 100%, then I say leave him out. We can't afford to risk him.

Teams should be announced in 24 hours.

Unfortunately on the latter, unlike Hawthorn we are still not non-negotiable on bringing guys in with A grade kicking skills.

Wasn't it pointed out a while ago that the Hawks have quite a few players without A grade kicking skills. Lewis and Mitchell for example.

Mitchells kicking cops a bad wrap on here Leysy reckons. Dual sided player who is generally OK. Can at times take too risky options, but not regularly ILO.

Do you think our foot skills stack up against Hawthorns?

No but I wasn't claiming that.

You said quite a few players? By any stretch that would mean there kicking is pretty average as a club in your estimations...

I don't particularly rate Hawthorn's midfield in terms of footskills - there are other clubs who are clearly better. Mitchell and Lewis in particular would cop a pasting around here if they wore yellow and black.

Where I do rate them is there designated kickers from defense. Hodge, Guerra, Young, Birchall, Ellis and Dew are all first rate. Richmond don't have enough players with comparable footskills delivering the ball from defense.

Trained fully again today so I suspect he is ready to go.

Great news Westy.

Axl is important because he will take a heavy tagger and so will Cuz taking the pressure of Lids and co to rotate through midfield.

Axl struggled with the tag last year but I think was starting to work it out towards the end.

A few can be as little as 3. In general yes they are very good but they aren't all A grade as you're trying to claim and obviously other skills are taken into account when choosing players. Yes their footskills are better than Richmond's yes we have to improve in this area, that wasn't what I was discussing though.

Quite a few is more than 3.

Anyway, as you say we need to improve in this area. Leysy's concern is that our recruiting still doesnt appear that it ranks kicking as highly as Hawthorns staff. Hard to see how we can bridge the gap whilst thats the case.
