For the scientists amongst you I would like to pose this question -
I have not seen an East Coast Team come home strongly in the last quarter against the Weagles (and to a lesser extent the Dockers) - therefore I ask -
Why is it that visiting East Coast teams always run out of legs (puff) in the last quarter of a game at Subiaco Oval?
Possible answers maybe -
a) Subiaco Oval is far bigger than any other ground in the national competition - is this true - are there measurements to support this?
b) The grounds in the west are sand based and therefore quicker than the rich soil based eastern grounds - east coast teams are trained for lush grounds and not the high speed sandy surface - thus they cannot keep up the speed for 4 quarters!
c) The 5 hour flight saps the energy and thus leaves them depleted after 3 quarter time - if this is the case why doesn't it happen to the West Coast every time they travel east to play here? Remembering the Weagles this very weekend past came home very strongly against the Cats in the last quarter!
d) Travelling west - with the clock - is more physically draining to the human body than travelling east - against the clock!
e) The Weagles and the Dockers travel more therefore they have a travelling routine and are thus more adaptive to the rigours of travelling then playing!
Your thoughts would be appreciated - as I feel this could be yet another fact that proves the AFL is not a fair competition...........RT
