How do you say someone or something is sh!t, without that someone or something thinking your NOT being a smart arse ?

Others have managed, its in the tone of his voice, his body language. Its possible to speak analytically without being such a smart arse about it.

Analytical, body language and tone ? Well, I suppose so, but when youve been on your knees for the larger part of 27 years, I dont think its in the general Australian psyche to be too analytical and pleasant about things. You just simply say we're crap and move on.

Yeah but can't people be nice about it?

That's really the point.

When does self-criticism or analysis then cross the border into self-destructiveness?
Too many times it has led the the baby being thrown out with the bath water.

If we are a team, we have team rules, we stick by them.

heh heh heh.

personally, I reckon calling someone crap in a nice way is patronising.

I'd rather someone say, 'History shows Richond go to water in big games'

Than 'We've had our staff look at some tapes and some stats and we felt that there seemed to be a slight trend of them tending to struggle after a larger than average build up to a game if bigger bodied players applied some tackling pressure early on in the game'.

Heh heh heh. Maybe we should get Mel and Kochie on FC to give an appraisal of us.

"Look, I know they've only played finals twice the last 25 years and have been belted from pillar to post the last 3 or 4, and have embarrassed their supporters for so long, but gee, c'mon, they're trying really really hard. And besides, they have a wonderful theme song."

Arch mightn't be the most charismatic tv identity going around but I respect what he has to say more than most. Instead of getting sensitive about his perception of us we should consider if it's relevant or not, and if so take it on board and improve. Somehow I don't think Arch would tolerate spin and mediocrity but by the same token he doesn't seem to expect anything of anyone that he wouldn't have given of himself.

Want I find interesting is that Archer is very reluctant to criticise any team or player in the AFL apart from Richmond.

A good mate in David King at the club and this if nothing else should hold him back. I suspect he might have be given a free license from Kingy to have a crack.........all part of trying to introduce a new culture in the young playing group, and reinforce in the older generation that their time is near up.

The lack of respect for our club is completely warranted.

What have we done to earn respect from those outside the club? We have done nothing. It's laughable how people are quick to defend our club's poop performance and yell and stamp their feet at those who don't respect Richmond.

Every important game that has had the smallest glimmer of pressure or meaning on finals we have fallen over at and rarely given a creditable performance. Only one way to change that.
Exactly. Well put. :clap

Leysy doesn't think Scoop was alluding to anything like that ;)

Interesting line of thought there Magic Mushies 8).
Far to much gentle massaging of sensitive ego's happening these days.
Every once in a while people that constantly fold under pressure need to be lined up against a wall and have a shitload of bullets fired at them.
These people aren't playing under 8 auskick, they are playing at the elite level of their chosen sport.
Sooner or later they need to have the barrell put between their eyes and be given the choice. Stand up and perform consistently at the required standard or pack up the kitbag and move out.
