l find it perplexing how ,at least the herald sun, footy reporters failed to see that Dean Polo was given a job to stop Swans champ Paul Williams ,and beat him in the toughest of circumstances, yet all they focussed on was his stats tally compared with last week!!!
These hacks are charged with the responsibility of reporting on the game yet it would appear that they give appraisls via the stats sheet.

I posted about this on another thread Rinso. I thought Dean had a great game although the stats only show 8 possessions. I couldn't believe the critcism he copped comparing those stats to the previous week inferring he had a shocker.

If anything they should have praised him for his versatility playing two entirely different roles so well in his first two games. :clap

I think it was 50/50.

Against Essendon, Polo had a job too.
He did that job, but circumstances, that day, gave him the opportunity to run off his direct opponent and pick up extra possies.

The circumstances were different against Sydney, he didn't have the confidence to run off his direct opponent, like many of his teammates, and as a consequence he, and the whole team, lacked run & rebound.

Just as Polo got a 10/10 on debut, he got a 4.5/10 for last weekend.
The team got a 7.5/10 against Essendon, and got a 2/10 against Sydney.

That's how I saw it.
I imagine that's how the footy experts saw it too.

A big rise in class for Polo. Brett Stanton one week and then Paul Williams the next in a 20 goal hiding.

Polo was beaten, but at least he din't have his pants pulled down like most of his team mates.

BTW, successfully negating an opponent doesn't mean that you beat them. However, it may mean that you did your job.

I thought Polo was good again, considering the change up in class (bottom to premiers) was no less promising than last week. Good on him.
