Reckon there'd be way to many varying factors to weigh in over different eras.Genuine question though, I can think of a few ways to measure evenness: close results, say below 1 goal or 6 points, blowouts, say 10 goals or above, and average margin.
One measure might be the variance of the win count for each team in h&a games, counting draws as a half. The lower the variance, the more even the season (17 games in 2020 will artificially lower that year's figure).Anyone have any stats to show how the evenness of the seasons have been affected by Shocking's rule changes? It must have been way less even before 2017. I hate to think about how uneven it was back in the 80's!
