I'm a bit of a hoarder and have been having a cleanout. The footy records seem to breed in the bookcase. I've put a heap in the recycle bin. I don't miss them now they're gone but it was really hard to make myself turf them out.

Just wondering what others do with them or if they don't buy them at all.

I generally buy, read and turf. I have enough junk to do with hobbies as it is and it is mostly just propaganda.

Rosy the footy records are rubbish and not worth buying, they are full of well you know..
l collected footy records when l was a kid. Still have them with most of them in new condition, have 100s of them. Including a couple from Kevin Bartlett's 400th game.
My son now collects them after games as l will not buy them. Only Grand Final game day ones.

I normally buy, read, save, it really depends tho if its worth it e.g. milestone game for top player, big match, finals (well not that i have have experienced many)

The little newsprint ones in the 70s were the best, with the page of the 'other games' where each side had a letter of the alphabet and you checked their scores on the scoreboard each quarter.

ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS AT SUBURBAN GROUNDS!!!!

waste of money.

I agree that they are these days. In the good old days when the whole record was devoted to yr game it was better. and i always knew where everything was and the u-19s and ressies were in it.

gee i miss the ressies.

I don't buy one, read over shoulders, or scab a copy that someone else turfed.
I used to collect them as a kid but when I was about 16 or so, I gave them all away to the kid next door. Used to get pangs of disappointment that they would be around 25 years old or so now and some of them were from Fitzroy games. Then again, they are probably only woth less than 3 dollars each anyway. :hihi

Previous years, I have bought them, marked the scores, hung onto them for a week and then threw them out. For some unknown reason this year I have decided to keep them until the end of the year.

I dont think i have ever bort a copy myself though friends & family i have gone with have. I would say dont get rid of them which im sure they wont! Alot of people still buy them and the little kids - to the oldies :P love filling in the scores etc. Bit of a good read at the breaks or before the match. Though if i was at a richmond grand final??? I would certainly collect it.. duh

I usually buy only one Record per year - The Grand Final Record.

Believe me, I kept almost every one.

The weekly record is a waste of $$

Nothing interesting to read or even anything we dont already know from the net.

When I was a kid I loved the record, especialy marking the goals. I had a great day marking those 10 goals Hoggy kicked against the pies on day at the G. ;D

Alfie Brown used to edit the old Records. Loved it. Like it cost 20cents or 50 cents or something.

I hate how they don't place something on the cover that personalises it to the game at hand.

Last week we had a stupid West Coast eagle splattered on the cover.

Why not resort back to the front cover being an action shot of the two teams combating or merged playing shots of two players from the teams competiting.

They are not worth keeping now IMO.

Yep, the generic nature of it annoys me.
