Former Tiger - Daniel "The Prince" Rioli

Don’t want Dan to go but if the price is right, you’d have to have a serious think about it…

He’ll be 28 next season & I think there’s a chance you could get a first rounder for him from the suns who need a running half back. Add to that ideally a first rounder for Baker & all of a sudden we have four top 20 picks in the draft next year to set ourselves up before Tassie start getting concessions…

We don’t let good players who are part of a long family history of our club go unless they absolutely want out.

We will end up like North if we get rid of everyone.

Baker even though I want him to stay is the one more likely to leave & get us good compensation.

They’re not going to give us 2 first rounders.

I don't think he'll go, but we hold the whip hand here and GC will either want to trade their 1sts up or out. If its out we might be able to wrap Dan into a package for both, probably giving back a future 2nd and some later picks in this years draft to ensure they get Lombard.

They’ll offer to pay most, if not all, of his salary and try to screw us on the draft compensation. And because we don’t play hardball in trades, we’ll say ok, thanks.

I think its more likely that we would pay some of his salary. It was reported during the week that to fit Rioli in they'd need to lose some decent players, they don't care about draft picks right now IMO. If they can keep the list together AND add Dan then they would overpay.

You don't trade Riolis.
Well not the good one anyway.
Unfortunately we only have one good Rioli.

The Prince stays. The Prince MUST stay.
(Although Wet Coke did trade their Rioli.)

Moju has been a massive disappointment for me.
By rolling up to pre season unfit he let himself down.
Apart from the smallest of small cameos he just hasn't fired.

Anyway loving The Prince and his work rate and willingness to take the game on.

So perhaps there's a package worked out whereby the Suns get Sausage, expensive n Moju, cheap while we get a first round pick plus some reasonable player of theirs who is on a slightly expensive contract.
Would give the Suns a bit of breathing space to squeeze Sausage under their cap while giving us another first rounder plus a reasonably decent player instead of a very flaky Moju.
Could balance out to a decent deal for both clubs.

I think more likely we push for the 2 firsts, trading back some later picks and a future 2nd, and where a decent size of his contract. Enables them to keep those players they may have been forced to get rid of, and gives us good compensation.

Having said that, I don't think he goes.

Half back flankers are always tradeable. Alas, that's all he is now. A really good half back flanker. Dimma might pay overs.

I wonder whether the fact that Daniel's uncle is around is causing a bit of tension due to Daniel being senior in terms of his place at the RFC but Maurice being senior within their family and culture. Family and culture override footy I'm guessing.
With respect shad. Being an uncle is not necessarily seniority. It’s all swings and roundabouts. A reciprocal relationship here is balanced by another there. I am a white fella but I call a lot of senior men in Yolngu country waku (nephew) and one little fat baby dad. There is no misunderstandings with my waku’s about who’s senior.
