Frawley era always comes back to bite us

Today's loss is a result of the Frawley era when we didn't recruit young players but recruited hacks from other clubs to try and fill holes. This leads to the problem we have at the moment alot of good kids running around the park with 20 games or less under their belt and sooner or later these kids are going to wilt under the pressure of the season, we cannot expect them to perform to their optimum week in week out. We do not have the 23yo to 26yo old players with a 100-150 games to steady the ship when time get tough. We have a big hole in the middle and this is going to haunt us for a couple more years.

No point crying over spilt milk. What are we going to do to get these 23-26 yo players, trade for them?

I'm sure Terry and the boys will be mindful of this fact when they pick their teams each week, and help get the young guys through. Until then, just sit back and watch the young guys do their thing and smile. It could have been much, much worse.

No-one reasonably expects the kids to carry the day and it's a case of give them a taste, reinforce the positives, rotate them when they're struggling. TW is very good at this and the young players will make it if they are good enough. As you say, we trod water under Frawley but TW has a long-term vision as well as a week-to-week one and we are moving in the right direction despite today's setback.

Why didn't anyone bring this up last week or after the adelaide game.We lost today because we went into the game half arsed you could see it from the start the dawks wanted to win to prove a point and our blokes thought it would be a walk in the park.

Funny this should come up.

On MMM today, Frawley was vehemently against the Tigers getting Aker. He spoke about the quick fix and how in 2001 the Tigers thought they were much closer then they really were, went for some veterans and it was ultimately his demise.

At least he knows were he went wrong.

History shows us that every generation is dealing with the consequences of its predecessors, thus we find ourseleves were we are.
But make no mistake Wallace & Miller would be well aware of these shortcomings and working night and day to overcome them.

Seeing as this is a Splud Frawley thread, seems like a good time to use a cliche. One that will make us all feel much better:

"The break couldn't have come at a better time for us."

While we are there lets blame Graeme Richmond and Ian Wilson for the Collingwood hacks they recruited in the eighties. While Frawley was a dud granted he cant be blamed for that pathetic effort today. That Hawthorn team had all those players out and still made Richmond look ordinary. A big pat on the back for the Hawks marketing department for telling the Hawthorn board to wait to appoint Clarkson until the Richmond game. As usual when the opposition teams throw a party the laughing clown tigers are always first on the guest list.

This point is true as our recruiting/developing has been terrible pre Wallace.

The holes in our list in the 100-150 game 24-28 year olds were the result of our recruiting from 1996 to 1999. Our current coach has recruited players such as Simmonds, P. Bowden and Knobel to band aid the problem.

We can only look forward as the rear view mirror contains too many bad images.

They were obvcioulsy suffering from fatigue and severe sleep deprivation then when they re signed Hall and Rodan to 2 year deals, thats their biggest mistake so far for mine.
