Frawley’s Failures v Wallace’s Waste of Spacers.

The single reason we have not improved in 10 years under Frawley and Wallace is that we continue to take recycled duds instead of investing in kids through the draft. Will we ever learn!

I present the following as evidence.

Frawley’s Failures Top 10:

1. Paul Hudson: It still grates me that this guy wore No.17
2. Billy Nicholls: Fat, lazy and slow…..a real howler of a pick.
3. Adam Houlihan: Frawley’s fascination with HFF continued
4. Tim Fleming: Hard but absolutely no skill
5. Ben Marsh: Did he play a game?
6. Luke Weller: Now playing East Freo reserves I think
7. Shane Morrison: Nothing to say…..nothing player
8. Aaron Fiora over Pavlich…..ok not a recycled hack but could not resist, given rumour that Frawley insisted we draft him
9. Simon Fletcher: Another Frawley howler, he sure knew how to pick them.
10. Kane Johnson. A few good years and a solid captain but ultimately cost us Daniel Wells

Wallace’s Waste of Spacers Top 10:

1. Jordan McMahon: Currently ahead of Craig Biddiscombe, Rory Hilton and Paul Hudson as our greatest ever trading blunder.
2. Kent Kingsley: What was Plough thinking? Quite clearly he wasn’t!
3. Mark Graham: Recruiting 30yold’s does not really fit in with a 5 year plan
4. Trent Knobel: Could have been a handy backup but injuries cruelled him
5. Tom Hislop: Ok I am potentially jumping the gun here, but look’s slow and not blessed with great skills.
6. Patrick Bowden: 1 great season followed up by a couple of shockers
7. Tambling over Franklin……..ok again not a recycled hack but Wallace loved him. A clear misjudgement of talent.
8. Nathan Brown: Cruelled by injury but cost us 2 first round draft picks that would now be reaching their peak.
9. Jarrod Silvester: Why is he still on the rookie list?
10. Jake King: Tough as nails but only a slight improvement on Tim Fleming skills wise.

Did I miss anyone?

In the last 5 years Hawthorn has taken 1 recycled hack in Stuart Dew and he pretty much won them a GF.

Hawthorn and Carlton were both behind us 5 years ago in terms of list management but stuck to their 5 year plan and sacrificed short term gain and their ego’s for long term gain. Something we have not been prepared to do. The bad news is that this is no longer an option even if we wanted to do it with the Gold Coast and West Sydney coming in.
